TDK brought credence to the genre and proved that one could have a film that reached beyond its usual conventions, while at the same time Iron Man milked the genre while still embracing an underlying realism, with a great leading performance (I still think its the second best superhero movie).

Cut to The Avengers, which pretty much replicates the comic-book experience. Sure it's the hipster thing to do to diss it for its underlying simplicity, but it embraces the genre for all its worth.

Now back to MOS: It seems to combine the warmth and scale of Superman:TM with the intimacy of Batman Begins and Iron Man, with the all-out superhero action from The Avengers. It seems to be everything someone could ever ask for from an origin film.
The reason for this is probably because this character is the only one that could be a combination of what you described, considering his mythology and what he is as a character.

I like how this story or tone of the movie looks. It feels like Superman: Secret Origin mixed with Earth One.

It's not being hipster it's just personal preference, some people just like a bit of depth and actual storytelling with their superhero flicks.

I don't think I'd ever forgive Goyer and Nolan if they set up Man of Steel in an Avengers way and just "replicated the comic book experience" mostly because that would have been so easy and so many people would have loved it and it would have probably made a lot of money at the BO, but at this point in time Superman is beyond the comic book medium, he's reached so many different generations in different ways, you have an entire generation who's primary idea of Superman is the Donnerverse, then you got the lois and clark fans, the smallville fans, the TAS fans, sure they all come from the source (the comics) but they have all branched out into their own thing. MoS needed to be that, it needed to be challenging and unique, it needed to be it's own take...it's own monster if you will, not just compartmentalizing a cultural and mythological icon as just another superhero movie.

By comparison this film is easily the brighter more optimistic twin of the darker and more cynical Batman Begins, similarly they both change the aesthetic to fit a more modern and practical world, but they also have strong underlying real world subtext to go along with the crazy superhero stuff. Obviously the hope is that it will do what Batman Begins did for Batman, and make superman the top dog in the comic book world again.

It look like that whatever the translucent thing that Faora wore on her head is a part of sheild protecting the head, see this screencap from the trailer presumedly of Zod in armor suriving missile attacks:

I wonder if after Superman turns himself in, he tells the government he will only talk to Lois Lane. Thus they bring her in for the interrogation and technically the exclusive interview.

I definitely look forward to hearing more of Jor-Els reasoning for sending Kal-El to be a god on Earth. I understand it's his sons only hope, but it's also extremely reckless. Imagine if he landed in North Korea. See Red Son for what could that could be.

I was wondering, are there any estimates on the runtime for this movie?

That's not a shot at the previous films. I still think Superman the Movie, Superman II the Donner Cut and Superman Returns make a fine trilogy of the Donner universe.

But this trailer seems to indicate the Superman film without limitations.
Agreed. And I like Superman Returns, but it really didn't add anything new.

I liked that the trailer is showing us that the film isn't only about the hero Vs the villain ..

It's about Superman and all the people around him, those who shaped him, who stood with him, and those who hunt him.

It's not just Zod. It's Jor-El, Pa Kent, Lois and Zod.

As much as I had hoped they scrapped some of the already used footage and added some more money shots, I still came out more than satisfied with the bits of new footage we did get.
