Default Would Marvel Studios keep non-MCU actors?

Hypothetical speaking, say Wolverine's movies flopped and Fox gave up on making them and the rights of the character usage went back to Marvel, would they cast Hugh Jackman to reprise his role since he's the actor fans identify Wolverine with or would Marvel just cast somebody new just for the sake of doing it?

I'm asking because with a good chance, Fantastic Four will be going back to Marvel soon and with them having Blade back, I was thinking to myself "How cool would it be to see Mr. Fantastic (Ioan Gruffud) and Blade (Wesley Snipes) interacting with The Avengers in Part 2?" as a full circle in a way to Marvel's contribution to the film industry.

Although I can't see anyone but Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine in the future, I expect they would recast to avoid any complications.

Yeah, I think they'd do the same thing they did with TIH and recast all of the roles. Marvel would want to put their own stamp on the characters.

Hugh Jackman's Wolverine ain't what he used to be. It all went downhill with X-Men 3. The Wolverine movie didn't do terrible, but it was widely panned. The sequel will probably do worse in the box office, and that'll be the end of it.

Every character is recastable, given enough time.

I suppose it could be like Narnia. When it jumped studios, they kept the cast.

I think if the fans wanted them back, Marvel would hire them.

I can see them bringing Chiklis back and recasting everyone else.

Although I'm curious if now that we see what Marvel Studios has done with their movies, if actors/actresses will be knocking on Marvel's doors wanting to be in their movies now.

The only way I'd see them keeping any actor is if they were actually acknowledged as extremely good. And even then, its unlikely.

As for Wolverine, Christian Kane or bust! *ahem*

^That'd be boss.

If Marvel studios got FF, they'd understand that Ben doesn't look like Thing before he becomes Thing, and wouldn't recast Chiklis.

I can't see them keeping a single actor from Fox. Maybe if it was ten years ago, they'd get the X-Men whole cloth, but other than that? Nah.

No, they'd keep Andrew Garfield. But other than that? Nah.

I thought he was perfect myself. The complaints about Gruffudd were things like, "he was boring!" "he had no personality!"

....That's Reed Richards. The guy nailed it.

I think Marvel would keep the castings that they felt worked. I can see them hiring back J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson with Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man if the opportunity ever presented itself.
And I wouldn't see them recasting anyone from X-Men First Class.

Someone already mentioned the Narnia comparison which is a good one.

But yeah, I would love if they waited for Snipes to finish his time in prison to bring him back as Blade. As much as I liked Gruffud, I'm sure they would recast the entirety of FF other than maybe Doug Jones/Lawrence Fishburne as Silver Surfer; hell they need to recast Human Torch from the get-go.

Marvel will never keep a non-MCU cast member.

They want to distance their films from those of other studios as much as possible. I actually think Louis Letterier wanted Jennifer Connely to return in TIH, but Marvel told him that ALL TIES had to be cut to the original Hulk for sake of continuity.

(....wish I could remember where I heard that)

And then they went and recast Hulk for Avengers. And Connelly while good in her role in Hulk, was part of a movie that didn't do well. TIH didn't do that much better either, but they kept the movie's story but recast their own actor. I don't think they have such a cut and dry mindset when it comes to casting, otherwise how did Chris Evans even get looked at for Captain America.

Makes sense. The biggest sin was not bringing back Sam Elliot. Had he been General Ross again, TIH would've been damn near perfect!

I believe both Hugh and RDJ are outstanding talents. I have appreciated RDJ since the early days, True Believer anyone? Frankly it's my opinion that it is these diverse and complex characters that allowed these actors to display their talents and gain acclaim. Jackman was not a name before playing Wolverine and RDJ was toiling away in indies and supporting roles in an effort to come back from his bout with addiction.

I think characters are dynamic enough that casting talented actors with the right script and direction would almost surely equal gold. It's even possible that a fresh interpretation might be beneficial to take the characters, cinematically, in new and interesting directions.

I don't believe any actors are irreplacable when you consider that actors are simply playing a part. There are certain actors that embody their roles but that is a matter of talent and commitment.

Give it time. Especially if films with him keep being widely panned. Let's see how the new Wolverine film does.

Eh, I'm glad he wasn't. The complete change in Ross' characterization would have looked even worse if Sam Elliot were voicing it.
