Three is no sequel to the film. Trollhunters 2 is an animated thing not related to the film.

Ah ok yes I was pretty sure there was never a sequel to the first.

Blair Witch Project is obviously the daddy but I'm also very fond of Paranormal Activity and Creep. The thing with found footage is when they are good they are hugely effective. The trouble is is that when they are bad they are nearly unwatchable. Cough Quarantine Cough.

Oh yeah just remembered Frankenstein's Army. That's up there with my favourites and you do hear about it getting talked about much. Well worth checking it out.

Blair Witch is a classic and one of the granddaddys of FF, I would also have to include Cannibal holocaust as that movie still gets questioned to this day.

My personal biggest issue with FF movies and some may disagree is that they mostly acted by American actors that are all good looking and cocky which in turn creates the film into a over acted slasher film that resembles something from the late 90s to 2000s. A found footage film should strive at its most for realism.

I think there is a big market for FF films that aren't from an American perspective and rather an Australian, English or even New Zealand or really any country that isnt America.

Edgard Wright once said about the idea of an American SPACED remake that it just doesnt work the same the original as we have all been raised on American films with aliens and monsters and other kinds of paranormal events going on that it loses its impact as we expect Americans to deal with these things day to day. When you have out of character actors such as English or Australian folks dealing with these things it becomes a lot more real and the threats feel genuine.

I just watched a Peruvian found footage film on Netflix called "The Secret of Evil." Recommended!

I like the original Blair Witch Project, a lot actually. I just rarely bring it up on forums because I'm used to the dogpile of hatred the movie evokes lol.

I think that the original Blaire Witch Project was great! When the movie came out on DVD, I borrowed it from my library and watched it late on a Friday night. It scared the hell out of me as a kid...

I will even say that I liked the new Blaire Witch film from last year or so.

I didn't like the new one. So many possibilities when I saw they were using a drone...only for it to get wasted. Was like watching Hulk in Age of Ultron :P (plus the characters were completely forgettable)

I didn't care for the drone, along with that "foot infection" scene. Didn't make sense to me.

The last 15 minutes or so were really intense, and I loved the whole time manipulation idea that was incorporated. Definitely adds some cool stuff to the lore.

Has anyone used "Shudder" streaming service for horror films?

There's a found footage film on there called "Found Footage 3D" which I hear is very good. I might sign up for the 14 day free trial to check it out.

It's also $5 a month, so I'm still trying to make a decision as to whether or not it is worth it.

Found Footage 3D is decent. I've got Shudder, I watched that last October.

Little story about when I went to see Cloverfield in the cinema....

In my screening, there was an elderly couple watching (who it subsequently revealed where in the wrong film but continued to watch it).

At the end titles, as credits roll, (I was in same row as them), the husband turns to his wife and says, 'I know it's a low budget film, but you think they could have afforded a camera man without the shakes'.

Those movies were just so good. Hopefully they will make a third one.

Definitely check out Afflicted if you have Amazon Prime. They do a great job on explaining why they film everything.
