Vile, if there's one thing I have always agreed with you on, it's been your outlook on Transformers, in all of it's iterations. Your feelings are basically spot on to mine, so much so, that I usually don't say much because you've already said it, and probably better.

"He wanted to return the franchise to what made it so special in the first place that being 'spectacle' and 'lots and lots of explosions'." That line right there makes me think they haven't learned a damn thing. That's not what makes the series "special". That is what makes the series "generic" and more recently "unbearable".

Want to see some footage first before I get too excited.

From what I understand they also emphasized the heart and story of this film, and even contrasted it against Bay's movies at least the sequels). It sounds like they even threw some thinly veiled criticism at Bay, which means they're aware of the criticism.

I don't think explosions necessarily make Transformers generic or bad. It's based on an action franchise, so they have to have action. It's just that Michael Bay's explosions are obnoxious and overused. They've said several times that this movie will have a very different type of action. There are a lot of different ways to film an explosion, I have to see some footage before judging whether or not this movie does it well. As of now, I have faith in the filmmakers.

Me too! I really think this could be the best film in the franchise, which is a low bar! Looking forward to a trailer!
