I agree, this is boring me.
I'm wondering if this does get political, will we get a more left or right wing Cap. It seems to me in the comics he seems more right *sigh* liberal.

I'd say more middle liberal.

I don't think they'll make Cap political at all.

I very much doubt it too. It would really drive some people away.

I'd like political stand points to be left out.. politics make me sleepy.

Yeah, as far as specific political issues go, I think they're content to let people fill in the blanks with their own views.

As someone officially forbidden by mods to discuss anything political following a series of lengthy debates in the Politics forum, I do think this is my moment to shine in that I don't believe the plot of this movie, no matter how politically-oriented, will result in viewers being able to pigeonhole Cap as either "right-wing" or "left-wing".

A big-budget superhero movie produced by a major studio is first and foremost a source of entertainment. Having Cap take a clear political stand on specific issues would potentially alienate a great portion of their audience, so that's something the filmmakers want to avoid at all costs.

Luckily, I don't think that's going to be a problem, even in a quote-unquote "political thriller". If the plot involves the Winter Soldier assassinating people, I would submit that it's perfectly easy to do a movie on that subject while appealing equally to liberals, conservatives and people of any political persuasion (short of outright fascists).

If Marvel can make a trilogy of movies about a billionaire weapons manufacturer appeal to someone of my political persuasion, I have no doubt that they can make a political thriller that audiences can enjoy regardless of their politics. The most appealing thing about heroes like Captain America or Superman is that they're good men who simply want to do the right thing, and I believe that's something almost anyone can identify with.

I just posted the full scene's dialogue on CBM. Came in contact with some others that are really spoilerific, and reveal yet another big twist. However, unlike Iron Man 3's, this twist shouldn't piss anyone off.

Thanks for the post, DCMF. The leak was informative, and mildly spoilerific, but nothing that should be earth-shattering. Makes for a good intro to Sam, Steve, and Tasha.

Yeah, I'm still hoping for some lines similar too this as I posted before:

some senator asks: "Captain America, are you a republican or democrat?"

Cap: "Neither, I'm an American"

Aw, part of me wants to know, but the other half doesn't want to read major spoilers just less than a year away from release...

I suppose the major thing that's revealed is that HYDRA still lives. A scene with two certain characters (that set pics captured recently) had revealed the two (quietly) yelling Hail HYDRA at some point.
