The monorail was noticably abscent in this film. It is a minor gripe, just wondering where it went or if it all got torn down? Also, Wayne Enterprises just magically in another building, without the signature logo? Was that because it got destroyed in BEGINS?
Minor thoughts I had seeing if anyone had any insight into them. |

The monorail probably wasn't in the movie because it wasn't in the script to have any scenes take place on it. Probably for the same reason the Narrows were never mentioned.

I think you can see the monorail in one shot, maybe not though.

Yeah I think there is a shot where you can see it. Maybe in the prologue when Joker is standing outside the bank? I think thats where I saw it. It was in the distance.

A billionaire like Wayne probably has a dozen or so buildings in the city. Look at Trump. He's got quite a few buildings in NYC where business is conducted. Hell, a better comparison is Rockefeller and look at how many buildings bear his name. We just happened to see another one in TDK that wasn't featured in BB. As far as the monorail goes, its significance was in the first film. Like someone mentioned its briefly seen at one point.

i was wondering what was up with the wayne building too. i just assumed it was another wayne building. and the monorail, they may have not rebuilt it. they could have torn it down. oh, actually i guess not, cuz it was included in the virals, right?

I didn't miss the monorail at all. What I did miss, however, was the Narrows. Notably Arkham Asylum. I was hoping for a scene at the end where they brought Joker to Arkham.

You can see the monorail in a set-up shot of Gotham...maybe even the same one with the new Wayne building.

I loathe the fake arse monorail and the fake arse Narrows. Those were cheesy as hell. And thank the Lord that little blonde kid wasn't back in the role of Tiny Tim.

You can see the monorail in the establishing shots of Gotham. As for the train you see when the Joker is standing on the corner waiting to be picked up...that my friend is the Chicago CTA.

The children weren't as annoying in TDK. Reese was a cool idea. Kind of the nerd-opportunist.

I thought that the Wayne building was the penthouse, but I guess I'm totally wrong.

The monorail wasn't in this film because the monorail's not important.

The big Wayne building is in the background of the scene with the Batpod vs. Joker. I think you can see it after the 18-wheeler flips.

Yes it is. Very cool scenery for their intense showdown.

![]() ![]() First screencap from Begins, second from TDK. Sorry for the quality, I ripped them from youtube. They're just using the building next door this time.

The entire point of the monorail was that it is the living embodiment of the legacy of Thomas Wayne. Public transportation is at heart the most egalitarian project a city can construct and represented Wayne's hope for the common people of Gotham city. It also symbolized his brand of activism in trying to "save" the city.
Seeing as how the point of the first movie was Bruce trying to make sense of that legacy and ultimately deciding to go a different, more disturbing (but perhaps more effective at the end) path... to the point of PHYSICALLY destroying the embodiment of his father's legacy... the monorail has jack to do with the 2nd movie so it isn't featured in TDK Funilly enough the monorail does live on in SPIRIT in the 2nd movie. If it represents a clean, legitimate, through-the-laws HOPE for the people of Gotham, the "monorail" in the 2nd movie is Harvey Dent. And it basically goes BOOM in the 2nd movie as well... |

The monorail is in TDK though. You can see it at least once. Obviously it is not in prominance, but it is there.

Its in one or two wide city scape shots. And the Wayne Building is featured ath te confrontation after the semi flips (it is really a famous building in Chicago hence no name in the second movie).

okay, maybe I'm just investigating it too much but...isn't this film taking place just months after Begins? Therefore, consider the damage made to both the base of the Wayne building AND the monorail...so, they could be getting worked on and Bruce has just moved business affairs to the other Wayne building. Just a guess
