They usually like throwing in one new property amongst the sequels. But they potentially have a lot of big sequels to get through in the next few years so it's going to take some skilled planning.

They would probably stick with 3 films a year. Pushing it any further runs the risk of saturating the market. They have to leave room for DC to release its films. I know that sounds counterproductive, but in light of the industry as a whole they have to go that route.

The MCU is meant to be a long play, so pushing the schedule further and rearranging films (or even consolidating ala Hulk) isn't outside the realm of possibility.

What I meant wasn’t really supposed to add any CBMs to the market. More replace however many slots Fox currently take up with X-films per year with Marvel-made X-films.

To be honest though, Fox really isn't adding much right now. They have Deadpool and The Phoenix Saga, as far as I know. I'm probably forgetting quite a few others, but that is part of the problem with Fox's control of those properties. Of those, really only Deadpool holds any interest.

They can push back the X-Men films, right the ship and start over. Deadpool they can just have him run amuck in the MCU. I'm ok with them taking their time with X-Men and Fantastic Four.

BTW, I freaking love this picture.

I don't think 6 Marvel movies per year would be problematic at all. In fact, I think there's a little room for 1 or 2 more as long as they are done well. I, for one, would LIKE to see less known characters developed. It worked out okay for GotG. Frankly, AM, CM, BP, DS weren't hugely known characters in the vein of CA, IM, and Thor. That's a good thing. Throw in the FF and some X verse movies and I'd call it a winner.

Not me, his introduction needs to be straight out of the pages of Hulk 181, Hulk in one of the other characters films like he is with Ragnarok and Wolverine comes out of nowhere to attack the Hulk.

Here's an LA Times article on the proposed deal, stating that Rupert is all in:

“It’s pretty clear that [Rupert Murdoch] would love this chance that Disney initiated.… He gets rid of these studios which are a way too volatile and crazy business for him,” Yale’s Sonnenfeld said.

Indeed. Even for 2018.
February - BP
May - IW
July - AM&TW

and they still have so many months left of the year. It will be the same for 2019, the third of them being Spider-Man 2 in July. And they have space to add 1-2 more little movies until the rest of the year.

The future of the Deadpool corner sounds good. New Mutants looks cool. Out of canon but Legion is really great and The Gifted is way better than it should have been. Donald Glover is making a Deadpool show.
You're acting like Disney can't just buy the studio and keep what works and the people that make it work, and fire the ones whose stuff doesn't work.

I honestly think with all the quality control and labor, the best case would be if this deal happened they started churning out 4 movies a year. That is really the absolute max they can do AFAIC.

They could do 3 regular MCU movies and 1X or F4 film a year.

Eh not sure what to make of that. That could just be extrapolation from the writer's part.

A Yale School of Management professor provided the quote for the author of the article, Meg James.

Didn't Latcham leave MS for Fox? I'm sorry that is not a coincidence he's the inside man!

Would we even necessarily know if Disney and Fox were talking right now? I'm not an expert on how these things progress and don't really follow these types of negotiations so I don't know what to look for.

Is this something that's REALLY starting to look like it's going to happen?

I'm pretty sure I've read in the past that Fox isn't allow to sell the individual rights to Marvel properties, at least not without the go ahead from Dis/Marvel...

Yeah, I remember the jokes that started when the news broke, that Latcham will be the guy to bring X-Men and FF home and so on

The line that jumped out to me was:

"The intrigue will be high Wednesday when Fox Executive Chairman Rupert Murdoch and his sons face investors at the company’s annual meeting at the Fox lot in Los Angeles."

The investors are the real bosses, and based on the stock movement since the leak, it's clear what direction they want to go.

Would be cool to see him introduced in a similar way to the comics.

Yep. They stand to make quite a bit from the transaction. Even more so if they can steer in the company towards news/sports reorganization without the volatile assets from Entertainment.

10AM PST/1PM EST. Investors will ask questions on this. If I were there, I would. Whether or not they dodge it is another question.
