Maybe Avengers 2 will be the Captives of the Collector storyline (which was part of the Korvac saga). Perhaps they're all "assembled" (including other characters who haven't officially joined the team) because of the Collector (who is seemingly in the Guardians movie), and not via Fury this time.
That certainly would give Hawkeye a bigger role if they went with that storyline, since he's the one who took down the Collector in the end and rescued all the Avengers. And of course, the Collector would lead into another big villain - Korvac, who is strongly associated with both the Guardians and the Avengers.

Way too many rumored new characters for A2 for the supposedly "smaller story" he talked about going for, not to mention it's looking more and more likely that at least Star-Lord will be in the movie as well. Maybe he just meant it wouldn't involve an alien invasion and that makes it inherently smaller.

I would like to see SW in A2.
Future installments: Hank Pym (in whatever identity he's in) Wasp Herc (with Thor's obligations to Asgard being built up, it would be neat if Herc was introduced and filled his slot on the team while Thor is away.)
