Yeah, the guy survived an execution gunshot to the head. He may not have superpowers, but sort of a freak of nature is a good way to put it. He's empowered by his rage and righteous vengeance. Those are like his superpowers, not his guns.

Criminals have to fear the skull because they know Punisher will not mess around with them like the other Hell's Kitchen vigilantes.

I might be a little cliche but I think it could work. Why? I think it could give the show a little flavor and also sort of add to the hard-boiled, pulp comic book feel. I think Punisher's antics should be a little heightened because IMHO he's not just an average gun-toting vigilante. He's more than just a Charles Bronson or Dirty Harry. He's a non-powered individual but he should come off as superhuman in some ways if that makes any sense. I don't mean in a literal sense, more in a sort of spiritual proverbial sense.

I liked Frank's inner-monologue in a lot of Punisher runs because they give a peak inside his head, his mindset, his strategies and what makes him tick.

One thing I thought was interesting in season 2 of Daredevil was everyone was going back and forth if he was crazy or not. Yeah he's crazy. But then other people are like, no he's not crazy. He knows exactly what he's doing. Maybe with Frank Castle, there's no right or wrong answer to his current state of mind. Obviously, he's not a completely sane and sound individual. However, he's not some rampant psychopath either. Maybe he's somewhere in the middle. So let's here some of Frank's inner monologues and we can decide for ourselves.

The show doesn't have to do this, but I basically want The Punisher to expand his war on crime as well.
I agree.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Punisher for me is his psychology.

The depictions of the Punisher vary depending on the writer. Sometime The Punisher is written as a psychopath who violent executes criminals and who talks as if Frank Castle was a different person. Some times he is written just as a ex-marine strategically striking down what he perceives as enemy combatants. Frank can be detached but he can also be social when he wants to be. Some of the nineties comics even depicted The Punisher having witty banter with Microchip.

Frank Castle is not a superhero. The Punisher is a former soldier who views taking on armed criminals as a literal war on organised crime and acts according to that view. Castle killed people before as a soldier so unlike superheroes he doesn't have the compunction of the no killing red line.

I wonder if Ma Gnucci will the starter villain Punisher deals with for a few episodes, before moving on to Jigsaw and his paramilitary goons.

I imagine if it's her, she will be less of a caricature than she was in the Ennis comics.

Not sure if Bernthal would be up for that, but I think it'd be an interesting way to get a peek into The Punisher's psyche and conducting his war on crime.

Yeah Bernthal definitely seems like he doesn't want you to know what Franks thinking. Keep you guessing what he's gonna do next. Steve Lightfoot said that The Punishers unpredictability is what attracted him to do the show. I have to say I agree with him but if they do a narration then I'm cool with that.

I think he can still be unpredictable with those elements.

Yeah maybe I guess. Dexter did it and he was unpredictable on that show. So It can work.

Perhaps they will just have Bernthal do more monologue type scenes like the graveyard one in Daredevil or voice his views with confidants Karen and Microchip.

I wonder if other Netflix Marvel characters will pop up in this show?

Are they just getting round to filming the last 10 minutes of episode 13 though?

No, they're filming the teaser for season 2

I'm sure Bernthal filmed plenty in the skull vest but it was probably at night shoots when the paparazzi aren't around

They had been pretty good at not having too many costume leaks on Daredevil. The only leak of the DD and Elektra costume I remember was one taken at night, from far away where you couldn't make out any details

Looking great. Easily the best Punisher costume we've had on film. Stevenson's looked okay but the skull looked like it was painted by a third grader. And Jane's costume looked like a guy cosplaying as the Punisher. Don't get me wrong, Jane did a good job in the role. But I couldn't believe that he spent the majority of the movie in a Punisher T-shirt you could get for $8 at Wal-Mart.

I liked Thomas Jane's T-shirt, and think that Bernthal should also wear that when he's not wearing the vest. It can be his summer/ light version.

He doesn't have to just have only one piece of clothing with a skull on it. He could even have a bathrobe with a skull if he wanted, or a duvet cover.
