If you guys like A Link to the Past, you should definitely check out Blossom Tales on the eShop. It's on sale right now, but it plays just like a LttP. I'm in the second dungeon now, and it's a lot of fun.

Level-5 CEO: All future main titles to be released for Switch, Level-5 Vision 2018 set for fall
Published 4 hours ago. 83 comments.

Quote:
Akihiro Hino talks to Nikkei Trendy.

Nikkei Trendy has published a lengthy interview with Level-5 president and CEO Akihiro Hino, who discusses the company’s plans for Switch and confirms a Level-5 Vision 2018 event for fall.

Asked how the company plans to support Switch in the future, Hino responded, “Basically, in the future our main titles will all be released on Nintendo Switch. The idea is that what we have created for 3DS will move over to Switch.”

Level-5’s first Switch title will be The Snack World: Trejarers Gold, which is due out in Japan on April 12. Hino noted that property faced various struggles. For example, the timing of the video game’s release date was dicey; the anime progression was rough, and it didn’t feel like a year was enough time to prepare. While the toys had the performance to sell really well, Hino feels that if they had developed just a little quicker, they could have rode that boom. “The Switch version due out in April is quite good, so I would like to make another effort,” Hino said.

Asked to talk about the 20th anniversary of Level-5 and the company’s developments for 2018, Hino said, “First, I want to properly announce a completely new title for the 20th anniversary. At the moment we may be exhausted because of the release rush from last years push-backs, but since it’s the culmination showing how hard we’ve truly worked these past 20 years, I definitely want to do it:”
Asked what kind of year 2018 will be for Level-5, Hino said, “This year, I would like to properly thank everyone who worked with us so far, and further strengthen our relationships with those people. Whether business or creative, I would like to deepen our bonds with everyone more than ever before.”

Hino continued, “I would like to make clear our standing as a company in the industry during Level-5 Vision 2018, which will be held in the fall. In 2018, in addition to thanking the various companies that have been involved with us, this year will likely be a turning point where we will henceforth properly represent those relationships.”

The most recent Level-5 Vision event was held in 2016. If you missed it, you can find all of the announcements in our Level-5 Vision 2016 archive.

Dragon Quest XI for Switch delay due to outdated Unreal Engine 4
Published 15 hours ago. 164 comments.

"It's still a long ways out."

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age producer Hokuto Okamoto discussed more about the troubled Switch version of the RPG during an interview with GameSpot at PAX East 2018 in Boston.

“It’s true that the Nintendo Switch version is under development at this moment in time,” Okamoto told GameSpot. “Specifically with regards to the development, this game was developed on the Unreal Engine, but the version for Unreal Engine needs to be updated, I suppose, in order to support Switch. In that sense, the development is still expected to take a very long time. It’s still a long ways out.”

Hokuto made clear that the Switch version will definitely be released in the west, and that the while the team considered holding back the PlayStation 4 version to launch simultaneously with the Switch version, it ultimately decided against it.

“Of course, we did consider releasing the PlayStation 4 and Switch version around the same time if that was even a possibility, but right now the outlook for the Switch version is still unclear at this moment in time,” Okamoto said. “The Japan team, they wanted to release Dragon Quest a XI and bring it overseas as soon as possible for our fans overseas, which is why they proceeded with the PlayStation 4 [and] Steam version[s] this time.”

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of Elusive Age will launch for PlayStation 4 and PC on September 4 in North America and Europe.

And it looks like Nintendo is starting to talk about their E3 plans. Pretty standard affair now, Direct followed by Treehouse. But they will be having their big Splatoon tournament, as well as the Smash invitational for other events.

But what is quite noticeable is what they are going to have on the floor. Not surprisingly, Smash is the belle of the ball. But what really raises my eyebrow is that they are also going to be featuring "most noteworthy" 3rd party games. Now, I imagine Fire Emblem and possibly Pokemon will be on the stream, but Nintendo is giving floor spotlight to third parties. I wonder what kind of support they are getting...
