Before he left the first time all he did was leap buildings in a single bound. I thought the only way he could fly after was with the Legion Ring.

Agree with a lot of you that the first half of the episode was stronger.

Probably the only scene that got close to the feels in this episode was that final talk between Jonn and his dad before he sacrificed himself.

I know its Supergirl so it would never happen but part of me really wanted Supergirl's mother and Mon-El to stay dead. Have the creative team show a bit of bravery and leave her emotionally broken after winning the battle at great cost. I mean the Mom left anyway and Mon-El is going back to the future so at least this way it could have had a more lasting effect on Kara rather than just writing them out of the show.

The time travel thing felt really dumb and shoed in I have to be honest. I just remember thinking I have no memory of them ever saying Kara could time travel. It also made what was meant to be a potentially sacrificial moment fall completely flat. They used the same music they always do at a big moment's (like when she fought Red Tornado) and it was just crickets from me personally.

The Russian thing just kind of bamboozled me. Part of me went "yeah Red Son or should I say daughter" but the timescale seems rather odd. So is this a time remnant of Kara with no memories? It felt like they kind of just went "dada here's a glimpse of your big bad next season." same when they talked about Brainiac.

Interested to see how they approach next season if they will they split the story between the present and future with them meeting up near the climax.

6/10

According to comic book mythology, any being from a red star world gains powers on Earth that are identical to Superman’s. Now initially, Kara was (clearly) Mon-El’s physical superior. Okay… perhaps it takes some time to “charge up.” But later (after his adventures in the 31st century - not to mention the thousands of years in hypersleep), you’d figure Mon-El would now have his full suite of powers. Yet as far as I can recall, this was never established definitively; and Kara always seemed more powerful. Of course, maybe Supergirl just made up its own mythology in terms of differences between Kryptonians and Daxamites.

Anyhoo… my original point was this: Given how capriciously defined superpowers are on the show, Sam losing hers in the season finale isn’t such a big deal.

Just par for course. And Mon-El has not been able to fly on the show without the Legion Ring. When they went to Kandor he gave his ring to Kara and she ended up flying them both out when the bomb went off.

My speculation is....not necessarily correct, but possibly....

Kryptonians had access to human DNA, and this particular guild took that, and possibly Kara's DNA along with magic and made Reign. So it was 3 actual entities that were separated....the Human DNA, Kara's DNA/Kryptonian DNA and magic....it was the magic that took Reign out of the picture...and magic that took Kara/magic DNA out into some other dimension and left Sam with only the human DNA.

*sigh* I just hate that they brought "magic" into the equation at all. What was wrong with the Worldkillers being products of mad Kryptonian science?

So totally agree. This arc was good, but no where near as good as the comic version.

I love this panel and have it framed on a wall.

Yeah, I would have much rather had it closer to the comic version for sure....

I had a gap of a couple of months between episode 19 and the final four episodes and I cannot remember any prior mention of a time travel "disruption" in Earth's orbit. Is it something that has been mentioned before? It seemed to come out of nowhere.

That said, it was painfully obvious that there would be some time travel when Kara ran passed her dead mother and boyfriend to J'onn's side. Yes, hey are close passing dead mother was a big neon sign to brace for turning back the clock.

Also, regardless of the time travel Supergirl still killed someone. I think she should still feel the impact of that.

What has Kara's DNA got to do with creating Reign?

Mon-el talks about a disruption in an earlier episode.

There were some early rumors that Reign was created using Kara's DNA back on Krypton... Kara was 12 when Reign was just a baby, and some speculated that her DNA was used.

And I think she did feel the impact of it, everyone she knew and loved was dead right in front of her. Did ya miss that part?

Looking back that does seem odd that she runs past her dead mother and ex - but then she was running towards the only person still alive, so that's not bad.

It made perfect sense to me that she ran to J’onn. He was the only person still alive and was badly hurt.

She realized the others were dead, then when she saw MM change into Jonn she realized he was still alive....I totally got it.

I can't really explain but the whole event just seemed out of place - what was the point of having Kara kill Reign and then time travelling to undo it rather than having her find a way to not kill her. And he still actually killed someone - time travel can't wash that blood off her hands yet it clearly doesn't bother her.

Is it explained why the Legion has to travel so far into space to use a disruption to return to the future when there is one right above the Earth?

There is nothing about that even hinted at on screen. Plus, there is no purpose to such a plot line.

It was not a very good attempt to show the impact of the death of her mother and former lover - who are not "everyone" she knows and loves. And all Kara does is act a bit dazed and then walks straight past her dead mother and boyfriend. It isn't much of an impact at all and again makes the entire event rather pointless because when she has such a minor reaction to the deaths of two important people in her life it is just a big flashing sign that some kind of do-over is coming.

She walks past her dead mother, lads, and her reaction is no different to the death of a stranger.

J'onn been badly hurt doesn't seem relevant - she makes no attempt to help him or fly him back to HQ for treatment.

There is no reason why the writers and director couldn't give Kara a few minutes to properly grieve and make us think Alura and Mon-El were really dead - there was plenty of moments in the next twenty minutes that could have been shaved off to make the deaths more significant.

One of the reason why I really hope they tighten up the story lines and pacing, as well as the dialogue. They have some great actors on this show, now give them some good scripts!!
