Default Great unproduced scripts?

I was shocked to see so many unproduced scripts on the internets. Watchmen by David Hayter, Batman by Tom Mankiewitz, so on and so forth. I dunno why, but they are just fun to read.

What do you guys think are some good ones to look at?

I'll include:

Indiana Jones IV by Frank Darabont...the script that freaking Lucas turned down!

I think eventually, it'll be online

Punisher War Journal. I dont know if the script ever leaked in full, but the reviews were all great.

You mean the script that no one has ever seen and no one has any idea what was in it at all? For all we know it was Indiana Jones fighting a giant spider for 12 hours.

Are any of the unused Superman screenplays (by Kevin Smith, JJ Abrams, etc.) any good?

God no. The Smith one would have been decent if the producer didnt keep making him throw in stuff like Brainiac having a gay robot asssitant, and fighting polar bears in the north pole, and Superman having to fight a giant spider...*shudders*

Okay....

Seriously, I'm curious to SEE if it's actually good. Chud.com supposely read and they liked it. who knows. how do we know that some of these unproduced scripts are good anyway? Most of them are not online.

I know that Frank is a good writer. He's not perfect but he's one of the better filmmakers in Hollywood. I can say for a FACT, that he's more talented than David Koepp if you're wondering.

Steven Spielberg himself said it was the best Indiana Jones script, since "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

Spielberg directed War of the Worlds. It's gonna take a lot more than his praise to get me to like something at this point.

I think the original Nightmare on Elm Street 4 script was pretty good.

Watchmen by David Hayter was not great. According to about everyone, he nailed Dan, Laurie and Rorschach, sure, but he made a mockery of the novel's plot. And it isn't unproduced. He's receiving screenplay credit with Alex Tse, Sam Hamm, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman.

Helluva lot better than Sam "Let's have the Watchmen fighting atop the Statue of Liberty" Hamm.

Certainly. Hayter's contribution, which is said to still be in effect on the final version, is well noted. He was allowed to visit the set, even.

But, Hamm had no choice but to change everything up. The studio applied pressure. (Which David has even said about the version).

Think of his story this way: the only surviving aspect from the novel are the character names.

Off the top of my head...

PLASTIC MAN, the original CONSTANTINE script, the Wachowski's earliest V FOR VENDETTA draft...

and GHOSTBUSTERS III.

That's not entirely accurate - most of the novel's main storyline was kept, while excising stuff here and there. There's a prologue featuring the aforementioned 'fight atop the Statue of Liberty,' and the ending is screwed all to hell (Manhattan goes back in time to shield himself inside the test chamber and oh no, I've gone cross-eyed). But, it's not an entirely bad read.
