Discounting strict trilogies like Matrix, LOTR & Star Wars of course.
We all know that 95% of sequels tend to suck, but over recent years they seem to have improved in quality and even - SHOCK - surpassed the original (as rare as it usually is). I've included From Russia With Loved because it was the first sequel to a Bond film (and if you don't like it, you can take it up with my lawyer, B. Lowme. ) So what's the best sequel ever made? Godfather 2. As good if not better than the first.

It was tough, but I went for Khan in the end. The first one suuuuuucked so bad and this came along and brought the adventure, characters and humour back into the mix. Great characters, great story, great performances.

Godfather 2 is one of the only ones on there that i would consider a classic sequel
I don't know, i might consider Rocky II a classic sequel. It was pretty damn good, even though i liked the first one better.

I'm torn between GODFATHER II, T2, X2, and ALIENS. If I judge it on best movie, clearly it's GODFATHER, but judging it on improvement from the first one, GODFATHER's in last place...
And why is DIE HARD III on this list, but DIE HARD II isn't? |

I voted for Rocky only because I've neer seen any godfather film. And I think so far,all the hype I've heard about it since forever,I won't give it a fair chance even if I watched it.
But the Rocky sequel gave you everything you wanted and literally furthered the story without getting redundant.Yes,Apollo and Rocky go at it again for the climax, but it wasn't the same as the first one.
