I didn't expect to see the special effects for Fantastic Four this early, albeit that they are still rather rough and needed alot of work. From what I've seen in this short footage, my enthusiasm for this movie has just increased tenfold. It would appear that all of the foursome's powers will be rendered faithfully, and even Dr. Doom is confirmed to be wearing an iron mask. I think the cast is superb, and if the script is good and pay attention to the relationships and development of the characters, this movie will indeed be fantastic in the next Fourth of July.
Can't hardly wait...

Aside from that one shot of the Human Torch in full flame, it looks terrible. Talk about ****ing up one of the greatest villains of all time in Dr. Doom. He looks like a homo.

Dr. Doom looks like a homo?
Why, because he's not 7' tall and decked out in full body armor or something? There is no pleasing some people.

I don't get it.
If one of the main points of organic armor Doom was to give him more facial expressions, then what was the point of putting a mask like that on him? I don't see many facial expressions, here. It looks pretty concealing. |

i dont think i would have a problem with the effects if they were more comicbook like..... but i guess realisim would win every time.

And if he's like that for a significant portion of the movie, doesn't that defeat one of the main purposes of organics? |

Wow - what a brilliant video!
I certainly didn't expect to see anything quite so advanced at this stage of production. A few observations.... I'm not too keen on Doctor Doom's accent. Instead of sounding European it sounds very Massachusetts, like John F. Kennedy or Mayor Quimby in The Simpsons. Chiklis' Grimm looks a little dopey during the speech, standing with his mouth open. Great space shuttle and space station effects. They haven't been lifted from another film? It just seems so early to have them so complete. The green panels in the space station are obviously green-screen zones for post-production, probably destined to look like windows into space. Not sure about Gruffudd's delivery of his line about the cloud.... The space effects look tremendous, though. I'd guess the shot of a flaming, flying Human Torch a rough design, as it doesn't exactly look convincing at the moment. Looks more like a computer game effect at the moment than one from a major film. He just doesn't look that "hot" at the moment, if you'll pardon the pun. Love the fireball throw, though. That restaurant with Reed and Sue was not good. Gruffudd's delivery is awfully stiff and melodramatic, while Sue's stilted, cliched reaction (waving her invisible hands expansively in front of her face) makes it look like a 70s genre TV show, like the McCallum Invisible Man series. The Thing looks great on film, although the facial characteristics don't nail the character I know from the comics. Great stuff, but here's hoping they evolve him a little further before the end of the film. The shot glass sequence suggests the humour could work, and shows how suprisingly dextrous those big three-fingered hands are. The test shot for Reed's stretching is brilliant, and really works well with the slick new FF costume.. hope we see this effect replicated exactly in the film, along with the superb sound-effect. Evans' line "Do we all agree that's digusting," really shows this actor's comic ability, and the promise of plenty of laughs in the film. I'm a bit concerned that Julian McMahon may be taking a rather camp approach as villain Dr Doom, with those shots where he admires himself in the mirror. Still, the Doom mask does look very good, although it really needs the hood. At the moment he reminds me of the pared-down, less heavily-armoured, cloak-free Doom that I believe was featured in Secret Wars. I don't know if Chiklis' claim "It's going to be amazing," sounded particularly honest or confident, but on the basis of this footage I think that, with more money thrown to the effects if necessary, the potential is definitely there for this film to be "amazing," if not even "fantastic." WoW!!!! Looks Great!!!
It looks more like an entartainment tonight segment than a trailer. I wonder if the official version will air this week? Reading the coments (while I was waiting for it to download) I was assuming it was a rough cut of a trailer with storyboards replacing the actual shots, but, after seeing it, it looks more like a nearly complete ET segment. Just keeps looking better and better!

Keep in mind this appears to be "promotional" footage... not for the general public. It's not a trailer but I'm guessing it's going out to advertisers and merchandise people...
The FX footage is ALL test footage; they are still shooting this puppy so I doubt nothing is the final look - NOT what we see in July for sure! The Aramgeddon stock-footage is a dead give away HEH! But DOOM is cool!!!
