I actually support the use of leather, based on the fact that the cattle are slaughtered and eaten anyways and it would be a waste not to put that leather to use.

on a more serious note, killing an animal for anything other than survival (eating, self-defense, sleeping inside a camal in the desert night to get warm, ect) is wrong IMO

My thoughts exactly. just harvesting fur I frown on, but being wholistic about the animal products we DO use I think is just plain responsible consumer behavior, really.

See, I agree there, but you can't just use that very personal, "cat and dog," argument because it's quite simply baseless.

For animals that we slaughter for food (whose treatment, by the way, I strongly disagree with) I think it is very good that we utilize the whole animal...including leather.

However, I wouldn't agree with killing an animal for only its leather or fur.
