Default Road to Damnation Mini - Pre Release Discussion

Need I really say more? Perhaps. Do you think we'll get a new series?

I know I'd rather see a new ongoing but, we'll probaly only get a limited series... if that. Chances are, we'll get a comic version of the movie and that's all.

I guess it all depends on how the movie does and if they plan to use a comic as a promotional tool.

from what i understand Garth Ennis is still slated to write the new mini-series. who knows ...they maybe working on it now! its possible they want to wait to announce it officially in order to help build some hype for the film. maybe sometime in the middle or late this year i bet.
its also possible they want to tie it in somehow w/ the movie....which would be cool...

Like a prequel type thing? Yeah, that would be nice.

I'm sure they're developing something... but I wish that something woudl be an ongoing, as I've mentioned. I really don't understand why this character has not survived in the comic world. Why did it end? So very strange...

i can say this....the different story directions that the book took, the seemingly unending crossovers, the characters that were introduced then never fully explored really killed it in the end. reader-ship had gotten so low at the end they didnt even bother printing the last issue! they had the story and from what i understand even the artwork was done....but Marvel decided they would lose more money by printing the issue so they canned it.
i think GR is one of those characters that will just have a hard time maintaining a ongoing series. people will get tired of it and then just move on...the die hard fans like us will keep reading it of course but there are not enough of us to keep it going.
i think Marvel always planned on bringing comic back once they got the movie up and going. thats where they will make $$...comics dont cut it on their own anymore. its all up to how the film does and the merchandising it will create.
from what i remember the whole point of that "Hammer-Lane" mini-series was to reintroduce readers to GR since they thought the movie was going to come out really soon by Goyer and Norrington.....and we all know how that turned out..heh

as far as it being a prequel....i dont know if it would work. from what i gathered from the story synopsis Blaze becomes GR for the 1st time in the movie when he is much older. he does make a deal w/ Mephisto ...but it was a long time ago when he was alot younger and that was to save his father i think. if anything i hope its a continuation of the movie...they can do a lot more w/ that imo.

Default New GHOST RIDER mini-series in September!

Yup.....after a good wait GR makes it back to Marvel w/ a 6 issue mini-series Starting in Sept. Garth Ennis will write and Clayton Crain will paint (!!) the mini-series.
from: http://www.newsarama.com/forums/show...threadid=26096

man check out that pic!

dont know if its tied into the movie but it sounds like it might touch on it just a bit.:
"the storyline for the miniseries starts in Hell, with Blaze paying for selling his soul (which originally gave him his supernatural powers). In order to escape, Blaze agrees to hunt a runaway demon down on earth, and then becomes embroiled in a plot involving minions and Heaven, Hell, and everywhere in between"

thanks to RabidWolfe from vengeanceunbound.com for the heads up....

Default New GR Series

In the new Issue of Wizard they state that a new GR series is in the works with Garth Ennis writing and it will be fully painted. They give a pic of sample art along with the article. Is this the answer to all GR fans? Start talking.

Isn't that artwork just baddass? Awesome!

I can't wait to see Ennis words on top of that. What a nice combo that is gonna make.

Mmm, Delicious.

I certainly would be nice to have an ongoing, but you're right, the readers just aren't there... but there could very well be after this movie. I just don't think 6 issues is enough, ya know?

As for Hammer-Lane, the series that was meant to get people hyped for the movie, it was crap. If they're gonna make a series like that, how can they expect to get people interested? Maybe we're lucky that it was crap though. If a lot of people liked it, the movie probably would have been made then... and rushed. Then, that would have sucked too. At least now, it looks like we'll have a great movie... one which will be closer to the character we know and love.

A continuation of the movie would be good, but I have a feeling they'll be telling the story from the start again. They've said that it starts with Johnny in hell making a deal with Mephisto... but that could be either the original pact that created Ghost Rider... or the pact with him to destroy Blackouts plans.

Either way, 6 issues just isn't gonna cut it. Not for this flaming headed Flamehead fan.

I just found what seems to be Clayton Ryder Crain's website; www.heycat.com. It states that his currect project is Ghost Rider... which we know is true. The best part though, is this...

Awww man!
thats awesome.....
i wonder if GR's look in the film will be similar to that? we know he will have that "classic Tex look" as described by MSJ but it could till be a bit different that what was seen in the 90s series.
cant wait...

Maybe the bike is a little too big, "toyish", but all the rest is great!

I love the look of the bike actually. The bigger upper wheel is so nice lookin.

I really love how Clayton's fire design looks. It's almost more like Lava than flame, which is totally fantastic. I really can't wait for this series to start. At least that'll tide me over until the movie comes out... maybe.

Btw, My roommate has the copy of Wizard that has the article in the first post of this thread. I may try and find the entire article for you guys or type it all out. There isn't much more than was already mentioned. The pic is bigger than the one originally posted though. I'll try and get a pic of that as well. It's not much of a difference, but it's something.

Very good skull, amazing flame effects, but what actually really intrigues me is GR stance on the bike! That zombie/animated thing look fits very well with the charactrer, imho. Although that mace bothers me a little, the red sparks/lightnings are surely promising...

The mace bothers me also and I'm not sold on the bike either.
Really, I'm not thrilled by what I've seen. I don't hate it, but not thrilled either. I guess I'm skeptical, I'll just have to wait and see.

Damn. I emailed him a while ago too and he never replied. Perhaps it was lost in his junk mail folder.

Yeah, I have a pretty big update for the GSGRR site as well. The bonus of it being down was that I worked on an update for longer than I normally would.
