Thats a pretty big leap there.

That the suit remains so disliked after all this time by so many tells you it is wrong.
Its 'so disliked' by a minority that cant get over the fact that its not their Superman film and they wont be getting what they wanted.

Look at the GC/SDuperboy suit. Looks far, far better than Singer's suit.
Personally, it looks crap.

Its why I think he really did not care as much about the Supoerman/Luthor/heoric/mythic side of the film.

Singer paid all kinds of attention to Lois and Clark's wardrobe but not near enough to that of Supes.
Why? because he didnt use a suit that you would like? What total BS. You cant tell anything about the Superman/Luthor/Heroic/Mythic side from costume decisions.

Of course Lois and Clark look like they had more attention paid to wardrobe, they wear more than Superman does.

That dosent mean that they did pay more attention to it.

When it comes down to it, Superman wears a very basic outfit (well, Two if you count the Jump Suit)... Clark and Lois have to wear far more complex (layered) attire.

If you really think about it, Chris Reeve's costume in STM may have looked more like what it did in the comics, but did not fit in with the design of the film itself. The costumes Jor-el wore on Krypton had high necklines and a small "S" symbol on both the reflective white one and the black one he wore when sentencing the phantom Zone criminals. In fact the red and blue blankets Kal-el was wrapped in seemed out of place! And if Superman's costume was made out of Kryptonian materials, why did it look like it was made out of spandex? Why was the S symbol large when Jor-el's was small? Why didn't it have a high neckline? It seems to me Singer is correcting the mistakes in costume design that STM had within the look of the film.

Remember, films are based on comic books, not a literate translation. Most literate translations would look ridiculous to the average moviegoer, who still considers superheroes as kid stuff.

I didn't really have much problems with the suit at first. The small S bothered me a bit, but now that I've gotten used to it it doesn't anymore.
The only change I would make to the suit would be to brighten the red a bit, but they might do that in post-production with a color filter or something.

I've spoken about this in numerous other threads, but my mind really hasn't been changed one way or the other. Upon my initial viewing of the suit, I didn't even post about it for a day or two as I was letting it soak in. Now, early on, the only thing I didn't care for was the color of red. Little did I know that the desaturated pic showed it to be very muted compared to what we'd later get with the globe pics. Design-wise I didn't care very much because the basic structure was there and I'd seen plenty of different renditions growing up so I'm not the kind of person who was bent out of shape because of the cape attachment or the "manties" as people called them for a while around here . The globe pic was what sold me lock, stock, and barrel.

Couldn't stand it at first but now that we have more pics of it, it looks freakin perfect. The suit has turned out to be a great change from the crap that was the old Donner suit.
