I am a huge Paul Gulacy fan. I have every single one of his Batman comics that he has drawn. This includes his first, Batman #393, Batman #394, The Batman legends of the Dark Knight "Prey" series (Prequel to "Terror", 1-5, #11-15), Batman Versus Predator 2: Bloodmatch, Batman Legends of the Dark Knight #122, Batman Shadow of the Bat #90, Batman Outlaws #1-3, Batman Legends of the Dark Knight "Terror" (Sequel to "Prey", 1-5, #137-141), and the recently released Year One: Batman Ra's Al Ghul #1-2.
His art is so skillfully crafted and masterfully done, that I almost wet my pants every time I see it. I know there are many Batman comic artist out there that are just about the hype but, don't you agree with me that Paul Gulacy is the most skilled Batman artist ever? Here's some pics of his work: ![]()

If you guys are unfamiliar with Paul's work, you can go to a website featuring his works:
www.gulacy.com See, this is what I was worried about. Nobody really knows who he is. Everybody is always bragging about Jim Lee. Jim Lee's work looks like crap, in my opinion. And, he is all about the hype. "WOW! He draws Batman and Superman in the same book! Holy ****, I love Jim Lee." Paul Gulacy is the one true Batman artist. He needs more recognition for what he does. He is one of the few that draws his own covers, while also drawing in the book. Pick up his latest book, the two-part, Year One: Batman Ra's Al Ghul. You won't be disapointed. Trust me. ![]() ![]() ![]()

While I really dig Jim Lee's art, I will not deny that this Gulacy fellow has talent. I'll have to keep an eye open next time I'm at the bookstore.

Some more of his work.
![]() ![]() This last one was the very first work that I saw from him. It was in 1986, man I'm getting old, LoL. I started collecting Batman comics in 1984...

I noticed that his Batman in cowl somewhat resembles the Keaton cowl.

I personally think he sucks. He has a horrible way with lips.

Noone will ever top Bolland, Adams, McKean, Breyfogle, or Rogers for me. I guess this guy is okay, but compared to the ones I just mentioned, he doesn't even come close.

I'm not a big Paul Gulacy fan but I do think that he has a good mind for images. He just needs someone else to draw them.

Since no one's brought it up, I have to mention one of THE best Wolverine stories out there, Wolverine: Bloodlust. This was my first introduction to Gulacy's work outside of covers. He's a very talented artist who should get more work.

Everybody!!! Pick up Batman Ra's Al Ghul Year One(Book One and Two) at your local comic store now. You have to see his art on the page to believe it. He drew Batman with a black suit once, and it looked a lot like Batman from the first 3 movies. Very neat. I wish I had a scanner. Paul draws everything!!! Anyway, here are some more pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ^^I love this one! That is an awesome pick. Look at the detail, look at Batman and his cape!!! |

Here is MORE of his work. This is his contribution to comics. All he does are the pencils. He inks his own work sometimes.
