I don't know what my doctors would say about running and jumping around rooftops already...but at the moment, I couldn't care less. I take a deep breath and try to prepare myself mentally and physically.

"Lets do it."

We both start running towards the end of the rooftop of this building. Dick aims a line at the building ahead and after wrapping an arm around me, we are soaring through the air and before I realize jumping on the the cement of the next roof top.

After following the same pattern for a couple of blocks we finally land on the final rooftop. I am now almost out of breath and the strain of the activity seems have found its way to my legs. While trying to restore my breath, I notice the unmistakable, all too familiar form of W.E in front of us. The anti matter canister could be anywhere in the building...
Dick couldn't help but smile,as He caught his breath....

Though, due to the fact that he was used to...er..."roof hopping",and did it frequently,It wasn't nearly as tiresome for him as it was for her.

Dick puts a hand on her shoulder.

"You Okay,Barb?"

She gives him a look, indicating He has more important things to worry about....

He nods, and looks at the building.

Using his nightvision lenses, and their zoom feature,He scans the familar building infront of him, looking for anything out of the ordinary.Considering the bomb belongs to The Joker,It would no doubt have some kind of strange decoration.

That was how The Joker worked, and He was a damned fool for keeping up with that pattern. Then again,Joker was never one to be discreet in his crimes.

Nightwing switches his lenses from nightvision mode,to infared mode,to see if He can spot anything that He didn't get with the nightvision.

Nothing. No sign of the bomb,at all.The Joker must've hidden it well....

Dick grits his teeth,a little. Now He'll have to do this the HARD way.He turns to Barbara.

"I can't see anything with my mask.I'll need to go in there. You gonna be alright staying here by yourself,or do you want to come too?"

Since when did Joker get so good at hiding bombs...he has always been theatrical and his threats very easy to find...Was he lying to me back there? Trying to mislead us? But we can't really take any chances. We are here, might as well make sure it isn't here.

I don't see any point in waiting out here, so I glance at him, " I'll come with you."

Peace.

Metropolis hasn't seen it in a long time. I fly along, doing basically nothing, as there's no crime, no problems, no arguements. Even traffic is orderly.

Weird.

But it gets weirder.

Suddenly, I'm surrounded by a bright blue light. And then I'm somewhere else, staring eye to eye with the Parasite.

"So. How's....how's Helena been lately?"

And you said it.
I remember that Sage and Helina had...history. They broke up a while back, but never got any details. I figured it wasn't any of my business, I sure as hell wouldn't give relationship details to her, so I assumed the same thing with her.

"She's fine."

I turned a corner and we're in the East End. Odd, it looks a little more...calmer around here. Must be a slow day.

We parked behind the clinic and walked into the back of Leslie's clinic. She was in her office, filing paperwork, as usual. I decided not to scare her for once and knocked.

"We're here to see Selina."

We step into the clinic. There, a woman, looks to be mid to late 50s, is doing paperwork at a desk. She gets up and greets us.

She looks at me.

"Hello. I'm Dr. Leslie Thomkins."

I reach out and shake her hand.

"I am The Question. But you can call me Charles."

"Well, nice to meet you, Charles."

I walk over to a bookshelf and let the two of them talk. Dr. Thomkins seems to be well read.

Sun Tzu

Nietzsche

Sertre

Dickonson

Poe

Rand

I pick up the Rand book and skim through the pages. I stop when I find one particular quote. "The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it."

The first quote I read in the first philosophy book I ever picked up.

The quote that has defined my life.

Brainiac 5.1 didn't turn a darker shade of green like had been typical with Bart these days. He didn't flinch or draw up his shoulders. Neither did he turn slowly and glare at him. If anyone was looking for an outburst they would be sorely disappointed. "That sounds about right for the amount of chronal energy stored in the cylinder. If the Time Institute picked up your fluctuations like they did, it had to be more than your "stability" in the midst of chronal changes." Brainy only gave Bart a sideways glance while keeping track of the different displays. "Am I to assume that those instances were in a row? I need specifics, I think I've made you aware of the consequences. Maybe I sould go into it again..."

The displays in the platform started to make noises and turn shades of red. Brainy moved his hands quickly from one place to another. He looked at Bart and then shook his head; his movements were quick and precise, there was a sense of urgency to them, though.

He's not mad? He's not MAD?!? I must have already damaged the timestream... "Umm well uh... most of them were within the day that I disappeared... and I did lend Supergirl some speed in the big fight... and then I went back to her a few days later... Probably better aim a few weeks after the big fight so that we're safe. Maybe?" Bart honestly looked confused and worried.

Suddenly, I'm surrounded by a bright blue light. And then I'm somewhere else, staring eye to eye with the Parasite.
Rudy Jones was only surprised for a fraction of a second before anger overcame him. Rudy and Clark glared at eachother for what seemed like an eternity.

Superman's eyes glowed red with boiling rage while the Parasite's yellow eyes shimmered and static-like energy rippled along his body in anticipation. A scowl shared between them.

"Superman."

"Parasite."

Faster than a normal man could follow, Superman shot himself towards the Parasite, while Rudy raised a hand to drain energy from the oncoming kryptonian. However, before either of the two superbeings actually came to blows, the Unity's deep haunting voice echoed inside both of their minds, speaking to them.

HALT!

OOC: Slight bunnying, Ferret. Okay?

HALT!

The word burns through my psyche, causing me to stop.

"What is the meaning of this!?" I demand, "Where am I?"

I look at the Parasite.

"And what is he doing here?"

The Parasite relaxed enough to carry a conversation. He looked back and forth from the Unity orb to Superman. "Kent?! He's your new recruit?! What the hell? He killed me!"

Silence. Both of you. Allow me to explain our situation.

Rudy and Clark shut their mouths, but continued to glare at one another.

You have Kal-El to thank for my presence here. He is the one who attempted to contact me and brought Earth to my attention many months ago. I have granted his request and he has accepted my proposal to enter my employ.

Rudy raised his brow in alarm. "You brought Unity here? ... Good job, Smallville." The Parasite clapped his hands lightly in sarcasm.

To bring the two of you together for my purpose is Unity incarnate. Both of you are opposites of each other. One is noble while the other is reckless. One is powerful enough to walk as a god among insects, while the other's power is technically the lack of power. One is caring while the other murders without remorse.

"I'm glad you think of me with such high regard," scoffed the Parasite.

To bring the two of you together will show others that I can make people co-operate and become allies with even the most unlikely of persons

I fight the urge to flip him off, it's hard, despite the fact that the action goes against my usual image.

"He's not the only one." The Parasite, it seems, is not above giving people the finger, as he so thoughtfully shows me.

I sigh, the Unity has a point. If there is really going to be peace on Earth, I'll need to learn to get along with some.... people I don't like.

"I think we should learn to put aside our differences, Rudy."

I stick out my hand for a handshake.

"No draining."

The Parasite stared at Superman's outstretched hand for a brief moment. Under normal circumstances Rudy would grab onto Clark's palm and not let go until he had drained the kryptonian dry, but not today. Today he passively shook hands with his sworn enemy.
Despite the newfound comradery, both of them still found themselves sizing eachother up while shaking hands. Rudy felt proud to actually be quite a bit taller than the idealistic "man of steel." "Put 'er there, partner."

I am pleased to see that that matter is now settled. I look forward to seeing you two co-operating in the future.

"Yeah, yeah, hugs and kisses and all that stuff. We're the best of friends now, eh Kent?"

"If it means that other sets of foes can also put aside their differences, then yes, we can be friends."

What am I doing? This man has put me through hell on a few separate occasions, and now I'm being friendly with him? I've gotta keep telling myself that this is all for the good of mankind, if putting up with this guy is what it takes to keep the world in peace, then so be it.

At least I'll be able to keep an eye on him.

"Unity." I say, "I assume that you've brought me here for another reason, not just for this "meet and greet". If not, and this," I try not to sneer at Rudy, "is all that I was summoned for, then I would like to get back to Earth. I like to be able to keep an eye on things."

I understand, Kal-el. You wish to return to your wife.

"Wha-?"

I do, however, insist that you attempt to recruit others to our mission. My unity is spreading, but without the aid of certain influential persons, I fear that Earth may never fully realize what they are required to do in order for peace to flourish.

Silence filled the endless white room until the three of them had thought about what needed to be done.

Raymond Jones will further spread my Unity into different countries while you attempt to persuade your colleagues, Kal-el. Keep in mind; I wish only to bring peace to this planet. I offer happiness in return. This will be the end of war and crime as you know it. What have you to lose?

With that, both Superman and the Parasite were teleported back to earth, onto the roof of the Daily Planet.

Leaving at the middle of the night is never a good thing. I was sore and beat, and rough housing with Kara was never fun. An Angel she is not, she always gets carried away. Then again most females do. I make it straight to S.T.A.R.S and head to John Henry Irons lab. I knock softly on the door and no one answered. I let myself in.

“Big John, you in here?” I hear a buzzing sound, and I turn the corner to see big John still trying to crack the secret of the Apokolips armor. I swear the man never sleeps.

“John, can u stop for a second?” I slowly tap his shoulder to get his attention.

He turns his head and says “SB? What you doing here? It’s nearly midnight.”

“Say John I need a favor.” I open up the small back in my hands to reveal the China.

John lets out a long sigh… “You broke the dishes again?”

“Yeah so can you?”
I smile and rub the back of my head with my right hand.

“Yeah, Yeah, I’ll have it done in the morning. I swear you should be paying me for fixing these dishes.”

“What are you talking about. All you do is dump it into that machine.”
I point over to a weird machine which looks like a dish washer.

“A huh. But when I invented it. I didn’t have this in mind.”
He whistles and points to the sofa. “You can crash here for the night if you want?”

“Thanks and I think I’ll take you up on that offer.” I walk over to the sofa and strip myself down, leaving my boxers on. “Night John”
“Night Kid” he replied. Guess I’ll visit Cassie tomorrow morning. I think to myself before I drift off into slumber.

“All right, babe…let’s do this”, said Garth to Imra as he walked with her towards the time platform to board the machine and get ready for their jaunt to the past to take the again-young Mr. Allen home.

Imra clasped Garth’s hand, feeling the warmth of it against her own.
"All systems are go. Please step on the platform so we can make our departure." Brainy said
Stepping onto the platform she thought “I hope this work’s”
She sent a quick mental note to Lyle ***Lyle, we’re leaving.*** “Alright, good luck. I’ve got your back.”
Imra focused her attention back on the platform. Brainy had punched a few button’s and the room had started to swirl around them, like the swirls on the surface of Jupiter, with many varying colors, until they had blurred and spun into blinding white that seemed to stretch on to infinity. Saturn Girl held her breath knowing what came next. In an instant, hardly before she could register the whiteness, it shattered into a million pieces, as if an antique mirror shattering to reveal the plain backboard, the whiteness shattered to reveal a tunnel bathed in a rainbow of colorful swirls.

"We have Time Stream acquisition."- Brainy said. "We can see that, Brainiac! Oh, right. That IS your name, darn it."- Bart said, pouting. Brainy simply ignored Bart's comments and continued what he was saying- "Our target is 2005. The risk of a paradox is too great if we return you during the fight where you got back to the 30th century; our anchor point will be the day after. That is...unless you have intruded on the time after that?" Brainy said, rising an eyebrow at Bart. Brainy waited on an answer as they got closer to their destination.
"Um uh... Only a coupla times..." Bart looks down sheepishly..."Like five or six..."

Imra could sense Bart mentally squirming, and she smiled. He’d tried very hard to keep his little ‘trip’ ‘on the low’ as he said. However it had been easy for Imra to pick up what he was doing.
She wasn’t surprised when Brainy answered Bart calmly, she’d picked uo the closest thing she could call calmness in Brainy. Bart’s mind, however registered shock at Brainy’s level reply.

"That sounds about right for the amount of chronal energy stored in the cylinder. If the Time Institute picked up your fluctuations like they did, it had to be more than your "stability" in the midst of chronal changes. Am I to assume that those instances were in a row? I need specifics, I think I've made you aware of the consequences. Maybe I should go into it again..."

A giggle escaped her lips at the look that swept across Bart’s face. She could still sense Bart’s annoyance and frustration at having been de-aged. It had lessened somewhat once they reached the time stream. Imra looked around at the color’s, it was a familiar sight.
Suddenly the displays in the platform started to make noises and turn shades of red. Brainy moved his hands quickly from one place to another. He looked at Bart and then shook his head; his movements were quick and precise, there was a sense of urgency to them, though.

***Brainy?*** She queried over the telepathic link she’d set up. There was no need for her to speak, not that there ever was.

They call me Superboy.

Mein wirklicher Name ist Clark Kent. Mijn Kryptoniaanse ouders noemde mij Kal-El.

The memories are weird, as if they are ever changing. Multiples bleeding into one another. My spaceship lands in Smallville, my spaceship lands in Moscow. It even hits Gotham. I get adopted by a pair of small-town farmers, or get taken by the government. I have a brother named Bruce. I don't have a brother or sister. My surrogate parents are both still alive.

My adopted father is dead.

Is he?

I'm not sure of anything as I float around in here, my mind racing, coping with what seems like an infinite resource of memories and stories. Who knew how much can really happen in 17 years? Heck, I'm not even sure I'm 17 anymore.

I've been here for what feels like forever.

At least the colors are pretty.

Brainiac flinched a bit when Satrun Girl spoke into his head. On their recent trip to the past she had to forcefully scold him using her telepathy, on some occasions it had been the only thing that had curbed some of his meaner rants. Apparently the impressions were still somewaht fresh in his mind; and, although he hadn't done anything bad, his train of thought had abruptly been interrupted. Brainy's mind raced as he tried to explain what was happening, but instead he chose to "show her". He pointed to somewhere in the Time Stream while psychically feeding her what the urgent matter was.

There was a small black dot that marred the otherwise smooth colors of the Time Stream. As they slowly got closer it would start to look like a human figure, sometimes the figure looked like it was one of those paper dolls that you make by folding a piece of paper and then cutting one shape on it, ending up with a set of conjoined "clones" of the cut figure. There was haze around it, like looking at hot asphalt in the midday sun or the spout of a gasoline can. Brainy reduced their forward momentum.

"There's something out there."- he said so the others could hear him, too. "The anomalous readings coming from it surpass even those of the pre-siphoned Bart Allen. It's in a state of temporal flux, I can't even make sure if it is indeed a humanoid or not. All the displays warn to give it a wide berth, but ascertaining what it is...it's so...so, mysterious...we have to..."

Brainiac looked at the small flotsam in the temporal haze, he was enraptured. He looked at it with unwavering eyes, he had taken out his omnicom and his hand flew over it. It almost seemed a feat of superspeed the way his fingers moved. When the Omnicom chirped the main console in the Platform echoed it, apparently Brainy had linked them. Contrary to all level headed decisions, they hadn't stopped; slowly but inexorably they kept moving forward to the man sized phenomena.

Were those people? Superboy wasn't really sure as he floated through the timestream. He didn't even know he was in the timestream. Sure, it was familiar to him, having crossed through it a lot, but than for every memory of him going through the timestream there was one where he didn't.

Yeah, they were people. His supersenses pointed out a group of 4 people. Maybe they'd bump into each other.

He wasn't really going anywhere anyway.

“Whoa, what’s this now?” Garth asked a bit surprised.
“There’s some...humanoid floating in the timestream?”This turn of events worried Garth a bit. This was his first trip through time, and he had hoped it would go smoothly, for everyone’s sake. But, if this was a sentient being, and it was still alive, could they in good conscious just pass it by and leave it stranded here?
No, they couldn’t. They were heroes after all.
“Well”, he thought to himself, “it looks like we’re heading right for it anyway. So, we’ll soon find out just what this thing is.”

I retreat to the phantom zone after waking from my perfect life. Hal Jordan, the Green Lantren had put me into that state of mind. He has no idea what he has put me through. He has no idea what I'm going to do to him.

Fighting with him has been a reality check. I am not invincible. I can't defeat these heroes by rushing into battle with them. I have to be prepared and in control. I'll will destory everything the Hal Jordan loves. I'll do it right before his eyes and he will be powerless. I contact Phobos and bring him into the phantom zone. He is happy to see me but we don't have time to celebrate my return. There are more important things to deal with, I can't afford anything to go wrong when I take my revenge.

Black Mask sat at his chair, flicking through the bible while taking a sip of wine. Right now, Deathstroke was out, looking for someone. He'd be back soon, it wasn't hard to find common thugs in Gotham.

Today was the final day. For the last two days of Black Mask, it would be totally different. He had his master plan filled out. Now, he would truly push god to his limits.

Deathstroke kicked down the door, throwing a man in front of Black Mask's feet. "Thankyou Deathstroke, that will be all." as Deathstroke pulled the door closed, Black Mask got to his feet. "Now, what did my little friend catch you doing?"

Out of breath, the man replied. "He- he caught me raping a woman."

Black Mask walked round the man several times, tutting at what he'd done. "Well I'm afraid you picked rather an unluckly night for that, you'll have to be punished."

"Wh- what are you gonna do to me?"

"I'll show you." he kicked the man in the stomach, who in turn let out a sigh of pain. Another kick, and they kept coming. Blood spurted out of his mouth but Black Mask didn't stop.

"PLEASE! ARGH!"

"In the name of the lord I will punish you!" he roared. This was a new type of test once more. This time, he was doing something god should be doing, punishing. But in a more violent way. And he knew, god didn't want him to do this.

It wasn't right, according to gods word, it should be him judging. So now would he finally be stopped? Would something finally happen? Beaten within an inch of his life, Black Mask finally stopped.

Pulling out a gun, he looked up. "You can save him now, you can stop me... thought not." BANG! Two men entered the room. "Get him out of here." black Mask ordered, pointing at the body.

As they left, Black Mask screamed, kicking over his chair. 5 days of vicious murders and other serious crimes, nothing, not even a threat. Tomorrow, his big plan kicked in, something HAD to happen then.

After cutting his arm, he picked up his bible and wrote: "Chapter 5: Verse 1: And on the fifth day of Black Mask, he remained within his shelter, and commanded a worker to bring a sinner to him. 2: The worker returned with a rapist. 3: Black Mask saw this as an oppertunity to do the lords work, and beat him.

4: When the lord did not stop this mans pain, Black Mask called out to him once more. 5: But nothing once again. And so, Black Mask killed the man. 6: In his frustration, he lashed out at his own property. 7: Still nothing. But there was plenty of time left.

8: And the next day was the big day, he would finally meet with his old enemy. 9: The do gooder amoung these streets had beaten Black Mask on many an occasion. But tomorrow was the final showdown. 10: Tomorrow was the sixth dayof Black Mask. 11: And on the sixth day of Black Mask he said "Let there be revenge.""

Question and I left Leslie to finish her paperwork. I walked down the hallway, Question following my lead. I opened the door and found her sitting in the hospital bed, watching some game show on a small television.

"Bruce, I thought Leslie told you to get some sleep."

"And I thought you were asleep."

"I went back and forth, I was just lucky that I wasn't in Lalaland when I saw you leave. You could have said goodbye, you know." My stomech twists in a knot. I didn't. What if...

"I'm not that good with goodbyes, you know that."

"Yeah, you're always better with the silent exits...so, who's the guy with no face?"

I walk over to Catwoman.

"I'm The Question."

I look at the way Batman and Catwoman are acting around one another. I turn to Batman.

"Well the. It seems you took my advice."

I don't see any point in waiting out here, so I glance at him, " I'll come with you."
Dick nods,although He's a little worried.

IF,and only if,The Joker is lying, then there should be nothing to worry about. But,for all Dick knows,They could both be caught in an anti-matter explosion.

Then again,The Joker's out of commision.....Bruce made sure of that.

Nightwing turns, and fires his grapple gun at one of the ledges, and snags it.He turns to Barbara.

"Hold On to your hat...Or..er...Hair,I mean."

Usually,Dick wouldn't make a joke like that during a time like this....Unless he was nervous. And He WAS nervous, considering the circumstances.

He couldn't imagine how Bruce would handle something like this...

Dick wrapped his arm around her waist, and after making sure Barbara was securley holding onto him,He leaped, and pulled, making them both swing into the air,and down to the Wayne Enteprises lobby entrance.

Nightwing didn't exactly know what to do,from there.Would guards be on duty?Would He have to undo any security systems?

He looked inside the glass doors,to see nothing.

A silent alarm was possible,though.

Dick turned to Barbara.

"Any fuseboxes around here?I'll need to deactivate the security systems....Even if temporarily."

Considering Barbara had information on all of Bruce's buildings, homes, and hideouts,She'd know better than anyone.

Unless...of course...Luthor changed it during his Corperate takeover...
