At least Binker posts his/her review and doesn't just start a thread with absolutely no information. Haven't seen the episode yet. Did they air out of order or something? I thought Grudge Match was supposed to air after Far From Home. |

I, a he, don't really start up another thread with no review. I post a review so a actual discussion can start.
Oh, thank you for mentioning me. |

Some people will whine if I don't put spoiler tags, so here it goes:
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
[cue intro] Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
It's at this time that I actually have something to do but I will be unable to finish, but that's the synopsis up to about 5 minutes into the show. I'm sure someone else will pick up the slack, these things do take a lot of time. |

MY REVIEW:
We continue with again another break from the Legion arc with a stand alone of sorts. Or a unofficial pilot of the new show in development "Legion of Superheroes". Because this episode introduces...well...like I said; Legion of the Superheroes. But its actually "Supergirl and the Legion of Superheroes" like the title changed comic starting in March from DC Comics. The future team of Superheroes hasn't been seen since Superman: The Animated Series episode "New Kids in Town" that aired on October 31st, 1998. Eight years ago! Bringing back the team after that long was great to see, and having Supergirl in relation of the comic was interesting. It makes you think since shows like this don't take a short time to do, had brief discussions with DC Comics and their Infinite Crisis plans. And maybe know somethings we don't at this time... The plot is about the last of Legion (of Superheroes) at its weakest from the Fatal Five. To counterattack, Brainiac 5 uses a time partol to bring back from the 21st Century three heroes to their future: Supergirl, Green Lantern & Green Arrow. The only thing is; after the mission was successful, only two made it back home... Supergirl had some Silver Age charm to her. When she was fighting in a simulater, as she was being hit by darts, she says "That tickles". Then when she grabs the gun she says "I'll take that (crushes gun) thanks." Then punshes the guy who goes 50 feet into the air. He didn't hurt them, since they're Zeta androids. The focus was on Supergirl. In the beginning, Green Arrow and Superman talk about her. Supes says that he wasn't that thrilled about her taking on the "family business" but he's accepted it. From Green Arrow's POV, he says that sometimes Supes seems to act like she is just "another cape" and that she does honor her cousin, as seen from the costume change. We also get a forbidden love thing going on here with Brainiac & Supergirl. Green Arrow pointed it for our organic, acting almost like Vulcan friend. I said it was forbidden since....well I think you know why. The animation was fine. The music, while it was pure JLU at the beginning, the rest was like it came from a Star Trek show. I think that wasn't bad because of the the Legion of Superheroes universe. And its ships and United Planets. But at times, I couldn't help but think it was ripped from an episode from....lets say Star Trek: Enterprise. Dini's story was great like always who have seen his work on shows. We don't have to worry that this was his last work on the DCAU, since he's working on the Detective Comics this time. He is now part of the folklore then just basing his work on it. Overall, this was a great episode. Now from the fact that I didn't like the music at tiem would make you think I was gonna give it a lower grade but I ain't. This story was great; fantastic, sad at some times, funny at others. And with Supergirl, it made it cute. Dini hasn't lost his touch. RATING: 8.5/10 Next up; Ancient History. With Hawkman's return, Vixen, Shayera, and Green Lantern. And finally, the love tri-....square will be resolved. |

I liked the ep, but it cemented to me that I won't be nowhere near as pumped for a Legion show, then I am for the JLU show. I just don't want to see JLU go, I guess.

I liked this episode, but I think its one of the very few JLU eps that would've benefited from the old one-hour format. Maybe if they knew they had more than 13 episodes this season, they would've made it one hour. It was good, but it felt a bit rushed.

I'm really, really gonna miss this show.

Yeah, I had the same reaction. The episode felt like nothing but the bare minimum of plot points, with some action thrown in because they needed to have some. It worked, and I liked it, but it seemed like it would have been much better with an hour.
Also, the ending was pretty obvious from the start, and I suspect that with a little more time, they could have built up to it slightly more gradually. |

Wow. This is the first episode from season 5 I genuinly did not like. I mean it started out fine enough, but damn was this predictable. Paul Dini really has gone down hill since his BTAS. I can't believe the same guy who wrote "Harley and Ivy" and "Over the Edge" wrote this. Generic music, generic foes (shame too cause I actually like the Fatal Five), generic plot... just disappointed. At least monday's episode looks fantastic. John attacked in his own home? I'm so there. And we'll finally see John and Shayera get back together. Thank God.

It was annoying enough for them to imitate the jerky, hand-held camera look for fights before, but in this episode they used it for a bit on one of the aerial fights, which makes no sense. I don't ever remember the cameramen on COPS having jetpacks.

I didn't really like this episode. It was really rushed and not setup very well at all.

i didnt really like this episode much, but it was probably written as a precursor/pilot to the los show that keeps getting mentioned.
oh the way this season is panning out, it seems that it is the last season, finishing stuff off and giving cameos here and there...... |

Happy now Son_of_Kalibak?
I quite enjoyed this episode, it was nice that Supergirl got some focus. Once again we saw the Green Arrow/Supergirl, big brother/little sister relationship, which I alwayed from way back in Fearful Symmetry. We also got to see Supermans's thoughts on SG living in his shadow. As i said earlier the main focus was Supergirl, so aswell as seeing Kara's "big brother" and "Cousin" we also get her mentor Green Lantern, and it seems in his eyes she doesn't need anymore training. Anyway see also go to see the legion of Superheroes!...well two of them bouncing boy and Brainiac 5. It was interesting to see a group of heroes in the future it was more Star Trek than JLU. Now on to the Brainiac Supergirl romance, it could have worked if it wasn't so quick they did love each other. **** 1/2 out of 5 |

The creators seem to be wrapping everything up, which makes me happy. They don't really have enough time to do what everything they probably want do so I can give them a little wee-way in terms of rushing.
Any the GA parts are great Anyway I thought the episode was great

This whole episode would have been worth it to see Superman's reaction if GL and GA told him the name of the boy that Kara liked. Alas they didn't

Nice to see SG come out and show she no week super hero like alot of women appear in various shows, comics.
But and I just watched it this morning, almost made me late for work, it was rushed a two parter or at least a follow up would be nice to introduce people to what comming next. And for the love of God give SG a proper long bellowing cape I'm sick of those pieces of rags they gave her a BG. |

Did anyone notice reference to Crisis on Inifinite Earths, where GL is holding Supergirl's body after she got the crap beaten out of her?
