Does anyone know the basis for what they are doing?
Is it just a particular point in Licolns life or the whole thing.

I'm under the impression it is mostly (f not entirely) his predisdency which of course centered around the Civil War. It'll be nice to see a Civil War movie not about "the lost noble South" and other such mythifying (I have enough faith in Speilberg he'll avoid romanticizing Lincoln in the movie too much).

Can't wait (more than Indy IV!). Bring this on now.

Source: Newsweek
September 23, 2007

Newsweek reports that Sally Field ("Brothers and Sisters") has joined the Steven Spielberg-directed Abraham Lincoln, starring Liam Neeson in the title role. Field will play Mary Todd, wife of the 16th U.S. president.

The DreamWorks movie will be based on a bio written by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin titled "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln."

The 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth will happen in February, 2009.

As far as American history films go, I'd love to see one about the Hamilton/Burr duel.

They can surgically remove Eva Mendes' mole and put it on Liam's cheek.

Phew, glad to hear that this is still on. I was afraid with Indiana Jones 4 and the supposed Jurassic Park 4, that Lincoln was going to be swept to the back-burners.

Wasn't Spielberg suppose to make "The Talisman" after Indy 4?

That's a TV serial and he's only producing.

Oooh! A civil war movie about Sherman and Grant would be great, too!

Lincoln Biopic to Follow Tintin for Spielberg
Source: ScreenDaily.com, FOCUS
May 11, 2008

Screen Daily is reporting that director Steven Spielberg will start shooting his long-anticipated biopic about the country's 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, in early '09 after completing his live-action Tintin movie. Originally, the Oscar-winning filmmaker had planned on directing The Trials of Chicago 7, but as reported earlier, it's been delayed to work out script issues, making room for the long-discussed biopic, which Spielberg would like to be released in the the year that would have been Lincoln's 200th birthday. Spielberg also told a reporter at the German magazine FOCUS that production on Tintin won't be delayed due to a potential actors' strike since it's being done using motion capture animation.

Liam Neeson as Abraham Lincoln? Sounds awesome!
