Source: The Hollywood Reporter February 23, 2006 Mark Wahlberg has signed on to topline and Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) is on board to direct the political thriller Shooter for Paramount Pictures, says The Hollywood Reporter. Based on Stephen Hunter's novel "Point of Impact," published by Bantam Books in 1993, the story centers on an ace marksman -- living in self-exile in the Arkansas wilderness after causing the death of an innocent person -- who is persuaded by his former associates that they need his help to prevent an assassination. Subsequently double-crossed and framed for the presidential assassination he was trying to prevent, he is forced to go on the run while trying to track down the real killer and discover the truth about who betrayed him. Jonathan Lemkin wrote the screenplay. The studio is eyeing a June start date for the di Bonaventura Pictures production. Lorenzo di Bonaventura previously produced the Wahlberg-starrer Four Brothers. Fuqua was attached to direct By Any Means Necessary, another di Bonaventura-produced thriller for Paramount. That project appears to be on the back burner now that Shooter has been fast-tracked.

LOL, back on topic, this flick may have some potential if done well. Whenver they start up that G.I. Joe flick, I would suggest Fuqua at the helm, simply for Tears of the Sun and the battle scenes in King Arthur(notably the only good things about that one).

It could be good. After The Departed, I've come to like Mark Wahlberg better than I used to.

I actually wouldn't mind Fuqua doing a Green Arrow/Lantern movie when and if they ever get around to it. He's had a couple clunkers, but his resume is pretty decent.
