Default Ghost Rider & Spider-Man

It's strange to discuss sequels when you do not have more than a little glimpse at the first movie...but anyway:

Thinking of the good old "Marvel Team-Up"-days, I would really love to see a movie where Spidey and GR are fighting evil together...(but no Paste-Pot-Pete, please...sorry, no Trapster, I mean).

Aww, but Trapster is such a fun character. He wore purple and... yellow, or was that gold... and he shot glue at people. He's money!

Okay, as much as I'd love to see Ghostie and Spidey on the big screen together, Spider-Man, at the moment, is more reality based (for a superhero comic) with human enemies, where Ghost Rider is more fantasy based with demonic enemies. I know in the Marvel Comic Universe Spider-Man duking it out with demons was pretty common, but it might not translate well with the currently established mythos.

Although, I could be wrong. Spidey 2 did make mention of Doctor Strange who is more fantasy than reality, so there could be a possibility of a crossover film between the two characters. Unless Doctor Strange is just some kook on the street near the Bugle.

Who would make the potential villian, though. Who could transition both characters together in one film?

Does anyone actually believe there will ever be a team-up movie by 2 characters who've had thier own movies?

I don't see how team-up movies could ever be a possibility. The movies are made by different writing crews, directors, producers, and production companies. The very proposal of a team-up movie would cause legal chaos to sweep the industry!

Well...how did they do "Aliens vs. Predator" then? (different crews, directors etc.)

GR and Spidey are both Sony-made, aren't they? So just get someone to write the script and give it to a new team when you own rights for both characters.

Although I agree that the chance of such a movie being shot is slim, I wouldn't call it impossible......but unlikely, at least as long as they are getting enough money with the single-character movies.

Aliens vs. Predator was possible because it had long been a comic book and video game series and they had sealed the rights to both a LONG time before. GR and Spider-Man are both Sony films, but with Marvel planning on distributing their future movies themselves, there's no way they can do it now unless you want to see a Hulk/Ant Man movie.

Hey, that's a good idea, add a few more and call it "The Avengers" but I guess that title is taken already...maybe we could do Hulk/Ant Man/Thor/John Steed/Iron Man/Cap/Emma Peel/Wasp, or something like that...

see, my point exactly...Marvel Team-up was a comic book with GR and Spidey...well, in a few issues at least. Why not dream of a movie with both of them ("unlikely, but not impossible", that's what I said)?

It should also be noted that the Alien franchise and the Predator franchise were both distributed under 20th Century Fox, which allowed for the addition of the Alien Skull in the Predator trophy case in Predator 2 (with Danny Glover), one of the catalysts that lead to the Alien v. Predator movie. This scene happened during the time Dark Horse combined the characters in the comics (11/1989 - 12/1990, the comic release dates look pretty bad on the Dark Horse website).

So a Ghost Rider and Spider-Man movie encounter should not be a problem at all legally. Just the idea of coming up with a plausable storyline that encompasses both characters properly.

Hmm... maybe Demogoblin...

Well if I could choose anyone it would be Wolverine.

That gives me an idea...

Let me see..
we have Ghost Rider...and Spidey...and Hulk (without Ant-Man)...and now, Wolverine.

This is crazy, we've got "The New Fantastic Four" (remember the comics, sure you do).

And since there's a FF-movie, we get the MEGA-CROSSOVER and do a "FF getting sucked into the Negative Zone and the New FF come to the rescue"-movie.

Okay, now this is too weird, even for me.

@NDX:
Demogloblin?, hmmm...actually sometimes I miss him. What a nice and misunderstood demon he was. Really! Great idea.
What about Morbius? He would have ties to GR- and Spidey-continuity, too.

They should maybe do something like "Spirits of Venom", just adapted for the movie-continuum.

I think its possible and I believe eventually it will be done, at least on some level. (meaning there will be team-ups, not necessarily GR)
It would be cool if they did something like the FF cartoon GR appeared in. Have Spider-man in a hopeless situation then have GR ride up and save his ass, or any of the other characters in an impossible situation and have GR ride up and save their ass. GR is awesome in that role. A mysterious, frightening character with the power to drop into a scene and change everything. You wouldn't even need GR for the whole movie for something like that, just a minute or two. And it would rock.

This is a fan's dream. But it'd never work on film.

Everybody puts down the team-up usually because their film rights are owned by different studios but in reality studios actually work together alot. Mind you its usually small studios getting help from bigger studios, but if their was a serious chance for big money then I;m sure studios can put away their differences. Its not like they're the Yankees and the Red Sox.

Freddy vs Jason was the biggest mistaken for horro piece of crap there is, ok, I take that back, Seed of Chucky is. But FvJ sucked so much a**

Spider-Man & GhostRider together would be a dud.

I think they make team up/vs movies when the characters are old and forgotten and someone needs a quick buck

That's true...as long as Spidey sells, there's no need for a team-up, but maybe a cameo would be okay (although they are more likely to use another Spidey-related character for that...and there are so many to choose from...).

If they ever did team up wouldn't it be against a goblin or morbius. Those seem to be the main reason's I'd see them team up

Look, crossovers aren't gonna happen. Crossovers can't happen and they shouldn't happen. Not just because of studio rights & all that, either. Mainly it's about aesthetics. They just don't mix. And more importantly, as fun as it may be to see Spider-Man & Daredevil or whoever team up in the comics, the movies should just be about the one hero. A problem comes up in a Spider-Man movie, it's for him to solve. Not call the Fantastic Four or Captain America. The very idea cheapens it.
