I know there's a few threads floating around here, and I did a search and didn't find a general one (If there is one, just point me there and I'll stop posting in this one) I just thought with Brubaker coming on board, a new place to discuss the events might be in order.
I have to say that I haven't been as big a fan of Bendis' DD run as a lot of people. I liked it, but as per usual with BMB, he has great, great ideas, but I don't care quite as much for the execution, for various reasons. No need to rehash all of that. But I think the one thing even his detractors will admit is that DD was his definate bright spot. I just wanted to be sure I disclaimed all of that before I say this: I think Brubaker's run is going to surpass Bendis'. I know it's only been 2(?) issues, but I'm impressed. This last issue just blew me away. Now I don't think for a minute that Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Anyway, thought you DD fans might like a place to put it all together.

Finally. A Daredevil comics thread.
More stuff happened in Brubaker's first issue than Bendis whole DD run. Actually, Bendis did a good job I think. |

Why didn't you just make one? (Or are you being sarcastic?)I agree that Bendis did a really good job, and I don't want to take away from that. If anything, fans should be really excited that they found someone who will, at the very least, continue at that level (and in my opinion, actually step it up another notch)

So last issue in other words. GREAT so far though, ordering this weeks today, can't wait. DD is probably my favorite 616 book out there right now.

Bendis really got the back going in the right direction. I'm sure Brubaker will impress us with his DD run.

DD took down the Kingpin and became the new "kingpin" of Hell's Kitchen Matt got married to a blind woman named Milla(sp?) His identity got outed, and he spent at least half of Bendis' run denying it. It ended with the FBI trapping DD, and taking him into custody. Matt now resides at Rykers along with the Kingpin, and a bunch of other people who don't like him much. That pretty much takes you up to the start of Brubaker's run, with Matt in prison.

If I can make a plea to my fellow DD posters: Since I'm hoping that more people like Jim Lee's bat will be jumping on the title, would you guys mind spoilerizing the current events. I know they're all over the place anyway, but it never hurts to use them. For a little while anyway.

I hadn't read a DD book in this run at all. I had known waht's been going on through these boards, so I wasn't that lost. I was persuaded in buying issue #82 the other day. I gave it a read and it was a superb read. I find the whole Matt in jail thing to be very interesting and am looking forward to seeing where it goes. DD has a new reader in me now.

......but DareDevil, for me anyway, has been absolutely gold and shows promise for the present and the future!!......DareDevil is proof positive you don't need crazy earth shattering events and mind numbing retcons to tell a great story.....DareDevil gets outed, goes to jail...that has been the essence of the past 12 months and more of DD and it continues to be, once again in my opinion, the best marvel mag out there today!! |

After only two issues Brubaker shows us that Bendis has actually been taking it easy on Matt.
Matt's totally unhinged now and I loves me a Murdock that's off the deep end. I got a couple theories, I figure that the fake DD Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:

Yeah, the whole thing about "Daredevil was keeping me in check" was cool as hell. Matt Murdock is going to be handing out ass-whoopings like party favors.

Brubaker is awsome because he is going to write the Punisher in:
DAREDEVIL # 86 The Story: "DEVIL IN CELL BLOCK D" The opposing forces in Rykers finally explode, in an all-out war. It’s the riot in Rykers, and Matt Murdock will find himself caught between his enemies and a hard place. Will this violent take-over prevent Matt from finding the answers he seeks about Foggy’s murder, and about who’s been manipulating him from the outside? And what the hell is Punisher doing here? Part 5 (of 6). 32 PGS./Rated T+ ...$2.99 In Stores: 2006-06-28

The Punisher is probaby there for the same reason he's always there, he let himself get caught so he could kill someone who was running the show from the "safety" of Prison, start a riot, and escape, like he used to do almost every f**king week back in Punisher vol. 2...seriously, you'd think they'd just stop sending him there after a while
