Interesting speculation about the fake DD and Foggy's death. Hmm.

I'm a little surprised that Brubaker isn't getting the fanboy treatment. Bringing back Bucky and now taking out Foggy Nelson. Whew. It's almost like asking for it. But I haven't seen much backlash or heard much. I supposed everyone is reserving judgement.

Anyway. Daredevil is easily the best book Marvel is putting out right now. And Brubaker/Lark are really taking it to the next level. I didn't really expect Brubaker to make it so awesome but he really wrote a kick ass first issue.

Haven't had a chance to read # 83 yet but I'm really looking forward to how Matt handles what happened. And get that fat mofo Kingpin!

Ooopsie, I just re-read my original post, and realized that I did exactly what I asked you guys not to do. And in the Thread Starter to boot!! My bad.

No, the Punisher is going to talk about the irony of Daredevil being in prison...then kill someone and start a riot and escaped like he did every week back in Punisher vol.2

It's probally going to be something good.

Default Daredevil #83

In Brubaker's first two issues he has already told a better story than anything Bendis wrote. And how long did he write DD for, 3 years? Maybe more.

I loved Brubaker on Gotham Central and would miss him if that title was still around, but with it gone, it seems like he belongs on DD. If Bendis had continued writing, at this time we would have had two issues of Matt Murdock sitting in his cell, contemplating.

Nice to see a writer that is able to pick up the slack left over from the hack that came before him. Anyone who hasn't been reading DD, you might as well pick up 82 and 83..its back to being a great title.

Ed's definitely not bad, but you're being way to hard on Bendis' DD. Sure, it was slow, but it was never anything less than beautiful.

This is what I tried to explain to you in the Spider-Man forums. Change like that is not bad, as long as there is solid writing and good characterization involved. Brubaker writes good CHARACTERS. That's why his "shocking" stuff goes down smoother than things like The Other or Alpha Flight getting pasted off panel.

Hell, you guys are making me consider picking DD up.

Definately do it. It has that Gotham Central feel because of Lark. And if you like DD (the character), then I think you'll like what he's doing a lot.

Pick up the trades (get 'em in the library, then none of your $$$ goes to BMB) You can pretend that someone was ghost-writing it for him.

Seriously though, I thought Bendis' DD run had some of the same failings that he has in other titles. At times, I thought his dialogue wasn't quite appropriate ( but he had a great Peter Parker line involving Pittsburgh and a giant mutated Mario Lemieux ) But even his flaws here seemed to work, especially the "de-compressed" storytelling. For me, it was mostly just Maleev's art. I know a lot like it, and it's similar to Lark's in a way. I just didn't care for it.

I didn't like Maleev leaving the book but Lark's work has impressed. These covers by Edwards are frickin good too.

You are right about this as you are right about the last page of issue 32. (which is one of the most scary but at the same time most interesting things anyone could watch happen to the world of their favorite character)

Glad to see lots of DD chatter going on (I hope its not just due to Brubaker). Yes, I agree, anyone that didnt read Bendis' run on DD should get the trades. Great stuff and I am sure this new stuff will be good as well, but I will miss Maleev. His art captured the dark nature of DD and I loved it.
