Kill the mutants

I was going over the character threads, and it hit me......... why the heck are there so many 2nd rate characters in this film. Of course this is just my opinion, you may like characters like Quill or Archlight, or ever the kid with glasses who changes channels when he blinks, and that's just great if you do.......... I just want to know, if it was up to you, who would you get rid of, and why........

I would get rid of Archlight, and Quill and replace them with Gambit (go the x-men evolution route) and bring back Sabortooth.......

I would *possibly* replace Quill with Gambit, Arclight with Avalanche... I wonder if they chose Quill and Arclight as characters who could die in battle without too much fuss from comicbook fans. There's no way I would put Quill in the main Brotherhood line-up. (I'd also make Jean's costume a little less like Scarlet Witch because i want to see the Witch in a future movie!)

I'd love to see Sabretooth and Deathstrike again, but the return of Jean is enough resurrections for this movie.

I'd get rid of half of Magneto's Brotherhood army, and add in some of the original brotherhood characters, like Spiral, Blob, and Avalanche. Maybe even bring back toad, but give him a different reptillian look. (I hated the Ray Park grunge look)

I bet he'll be back for the Wolverine movie as for the character replacements. I'd replace a bunch of brotherhood members for Avalanche, Gambit and Exodus. Those 3 plus Pyro and Juggernaut makes a totally bad ass Brotherhood.

We have to assume he is dead for now, as he is never seen or mentioned again.

In an ideal world, he'd have been captured and in Sinister's lab being enhanced ready for release in the Wolverine spin-off...

Avalanche is one of my favourite characters, or at least the Evolution version of him is. I don't mind him being skipped however if it means I'm going to get some interesting characters in his place.

yeah i definatley think that Quill and Archlight are second rate villans, but they do pertain to the morlocks i think, more then sabretooth would...no doubt they should have kept sabretooth around, he is one of the biggest screw off in these trilogies, Avalanche would be cool, as would blob, but my guess is, is this...

Pyro, and Multiple Man are going to be probobly the two most prevelent Brotherhood members, and in the final battle the sentinals are going to be just as big of a foe..so i think that they brought these second tier bad guys in so they A) don't waste mutants which they can use to their extremes in like the Wolverine spin-off, and B) because they will be fighting the sentinals half the time anyways

Would you rather have Gambit introduced and have him killed off? Anyways, Arclight and Quill have been confirmed as nothing more than henchmen with no relevance to the plot. Is that what you want for Avalanche? Not even 2 lines???

i've herd quill defies magneto, i bet he has some deep dialouge in that scene...but not nessecarly avalanche, he was never much of a talker, but yeah it would suck to have gambit in there and have him not do anything because other x-men are more important to the story

I've always liked Avalanche from X-Men: Evolution. So, I would rather see him than Arclight. Don't really care if he only has one line or zilch. And I'd replace Gambit with some random Brotherhood mutant who is likely to have a two-second cameo. I just want to see a hand holding a pair of energized poker cards or two burning red eyes. That'd do it for me.

And then leave the rest of Gambit in X4 with a larger role. He can get recruited by Sinister to lead the Marauders.

I see no reason why Avalanche couldn't have been in Arclight's place. Quill I could see keeping because he has a power that is both unique and probably pretty cheap to create (in comparison to some others).

But just from the trailer we can see that they're certainly putting money into Arclight's powers, so Avalanche could've easily replaced her. You'd just have a more recognizable character, a classic member of the Brotherhood, and..most likely an actor less fugly than Ohmyrha (sp).

Plus, it's not like the Gambit situation; I doubt they're saving Avalanche for some huge role in a phantom sequel.

I think it's possible some characters changed from the very early drafts (during Vaughn's time). Omahyra is wearing a mesh top that looks very like the snake-belly of Stacy X... and Ken Leung is wearing heavy clothing despite having spines popping out...

Why does Omahyra's outfit scream Stacy X? Why would a quilled mutant cover his body with heavy clothing?

I am beginning to wonder if Omahyra was originally cast as Stacy X and Ken Leung was cast as someone else as well...

when i first herd of a character with asian descent i was praying for sunfire...

i will again reiterate...I honestly don't think when it comes down to it, this conversation will matter, bust this..

the main villans are going to be, Pheonix, Magneto, Mystique, Juggarnaut, Pyro, and the Sentinals, there is no outcry need for second hand villans like Avalanche

how much money do you think it would cost to make an earthquake, everytime avalanche uses his powers, for a non important character that is a alot of money..

personally Avalanche is one of the last villans i thought was going to be in it, or wanted to be in it (albeit, more the archlight, or quill) so i am not complaning

Gambit on the other hand, i would have really liked to see him in it, but definatley not the gambit from evolutions...but also definatley not a brush over "colossus form x2" where he only gets his one moment to shine, i would rather not be given the ultimate tease, and wait till he is a main character so he can deliver his suave dialouge

I can see your point about Avalanche. Simon Kinberg said over at xverse that Avalanche's power was more physical and more wide-ranging than Arclight's shockwaves.. they obviously want to limit the physically destructive, matter-manipulating mutants to Magneto and Phoenix..

Quill is so obscure they obviously took the idea from Spyke, the cartoon-only character in Evo. Co-writer Zak Penn hadn't even heard of Sunspot, so how on earth did they stumble across using Quill. Zak did say he'd heard of Sunfire.

But Sunfire's power clashes with Pyro and also any fiery power they give to Phoenix...

We'll know more when we see the movie and maybe they will tell us then exactly how they decided things and what they changed...

erghh avalanche and other people can be saved for other films. for example x4could have scarlet witch quicksilver toad sabretooth avalanche and the blob introduced.

Quill should have been Gambit...especially since he may turn traitor on Magneto at the end

what about psylocke...they could have done that easily. plus people would not want gambit without a metal stick. magneto could easily use that stick to gut gambit in a second. do people want that??

Neither Toad or Sabretooth is dead,especially seeing as they were in early drafts of X2.
