Default Jesus Married

For some reason so many people have a huge problem with the idea that Jesus would be married. Now, I am a pretty hardcore Christian, Church every single Sunday, pay 10% income to tithing, the whole shabang, and I honestly do not see why Jesus wouldn't get married. Now some denominations believe in celebecy and I could see where Jesus having a marital status would be contrast to their believes, but for the rest of the Christians, what's the beef?

I'm currently reading "The Da Vinci Code" and Jesus being Married is mentioned. I personally have no problem with that. So i agree, what's the problem?

Now I don't know if he married Mary, but if He thought highly enough of a women to marry her, I really don't think we should question his judgement or refer to her in a way that is anything less that praising. If you can get eaten by she bears for calling a prophet bald, I really don't want to know what the punishment is for using derogatory terms for the Lord's wife.

The problem is that there is a little evidence to support it...

I'd have an opinion on this if I thought Jesus was real.

Prove they did.

And no, it's nothing like that. Nothing at all.

I do not like how people say oh there is no evidence. No one wrote about, there are no Jewish Records and stuff liek that...

Jesus wasnt a much liked person 2000 years ago! Im sure the Jews who persecuted him would keeps alot of records of him and tell about all the miracles he did. That makes sense Right? Wrong?

Christians were killed and hunted down by Jewsish and other people and were stoned etc. They did not like Jesus or his followers obviosuly. Christian had to have meetings in secret. Items like the Dead Sea Scrolls were hidden in caves and stuff. Jews than to Romans. Im sure alot of Christian resources from the time would have survived right? Wrong!

Jesus was hated in the very region he lived and opertaed in, so im sure alot about him was WIPED out!

Umm even most secular historians believe he was real, that's pretty much not in question anymore but whatever

I dont think Christians (we) have a problem with the idea, I just dont think its true there really isnt any evidence to support the idea (if anybody uses the Da Vinci code as credible evidence I swear to God...) umm Jesus wasnt anything special to the Romans or the jews he wasnt the only one around claiming to be the messiah, just another crimenal(sp?) to them why would they go through all the trouble of wiping out the fact he had a wife but yet leave evidence of his life and cruxifiction. It wasnt unheard for a man to be unmarried at the time. The Gospels would have mentioned a wife if he had one.

Sister Yeah I'm bad for that I should try harder to stop.

The fact that some people use that as factual evidence amuses and disappoints me.

If Jesus existed, then he was just another cult leader. Unfortunately this one spawned too quickly to be stopped.

How many events in the Bible were retconned before the oral tradition was written down? How many were taken from other civilizations in the area? Noah's flood was Gilgamesh's flood, people!

One god concept in an area where the other cultures worship a pantheon of gods? Maybe this was taken from another culture, the Egyptians. Google Aten for this. The Exodus is considered to have taken place after Ahknaten ruled in Egypt therefore this could have happened.

Religion BAH!

and yet people use another book as factual evidence all the time. Though the Da Vinci code may have some basis it is just a work of fiction. That's the problem a lot of christians seem to want it both ways bible as allegory and bible as fact.

I think it's possible Jesus was married and just because there isn't any evidence in the gospels doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Christians want thier Messiah to be pure that's why if it existed, his marriage, would have been omitted.

Well, do you have 100% undeniable proof that Jesus Christ was married? I tend t think Jesus was of a higher plane than mortals so he could not possibly have the same urges we do.

You guys don't see the problem? The problem is that sex, and therefore relationships and marriages, although being necessary and condoned, are still considered a sin. It's seen as an impurity to engage in sex, even though it's a necessary impurity. That's why priests and nuns don't marry, because they're suppose to be more pure

it also comes down to dogma: Some people so passionately believe in the bible, they think anything mentioned in the bible is concrete fact, and if it's not mentioned there it probably didn't happen.

Yep. I think Earth would be better off without humans on it sometimes. Just look what we do to our environment and other humans. It's ghastly how cold and vicious the whole of humanity is. Just look at what we see on the news every night. It's sick how we are destroying everything that should be preserved in this world.
