Why no love and expectations for X3 from the media??

It seems the media like it did for the past X films doesn't expect much from the X3. With MI3 underperforming according to the media all I've heard from them was this may be a sign of trouble for the box office and will movies like Superman or POTC save the slump? I've heard Poiesiden and Da vincci Code get props and expectations for being the big films of the summer, but they don't even mention x3?

That's probably a good thing. Anytime the media touts a movie as the "savior of box office slump" it just does horrible. Look at King King. It was shoved in our faces so much as this huge epic movie by the time it rolled around people were sick of it. I think FOX was smart to delay the marketing as long as they did and give us the bum rush they are now (so to speak) because in doing so they've managed to keep the medioa from overspeculating. Plus I think the media in general underestimates how "fanatical" some of us can be.

Yeah, I've noticed that . . . I think it may be weariness due to the change in the creative team. For example, Newsweek just released an article featuring the top 7 must see movies this summer (among them POTC 2 and Superman Returns), and under the article is another blurb that says something along the lines of, "Wondering why X-Men and others didn't make the list . . . here's our reservations). For X-Men, it was the change in director and creative team holding it back.

Rolling Stone Magazine published a similar article--X3 received about the same response.

well that is the general feel about this movie, anytime I bring it up, people are like "eeehhh, I'll wait for the review", it's like most people know that the people who did the first two are doing superman returns, and when I bring up superman, people are excited about those films........

top 5 movie, money wise this summer, imo

dion't blame them, the more and more I'm hearing on X3, it's not looking good, hopefully I'm wrong tho

Exactly. Its not just fan babbling.. this flick has some perception problems imo. At least the entire cast is back.. thats a definite plus.

This is all nonsense really. Most people out there aren't aware of 'creative teams' moving, or even of directors changing.

That Newsweek article was irresponsible to be honest. And I shall be telling them so. They obviously haven't seen the trailers, they don't mention the star cast (Kelsey Grammer's superhero debut, as well as Vinnie's), they don't get the summary entirely right and what a bland summary it was.

Just because one person is able to publish their opinion in Newsweek as a reviewer of summer movies does not make them an expert or an authority.

if you guys wanna know the strangest thing, in an interview with stan lee. when asked about x3, all he did was say that he loved the first two x films, he thought that singer was incredible, he brought things to the screen that would seem silly if another director would have done it, and then he said, x3 should be good, but then he went off and talked about how he can't wait to see superman returns.....

Stan Lee is more excited about Superman then X-Men............. that right there should prove somethings up

I think that the general public doesn't know about "perception problems" or change of director (no one I know goes to movies because of who the director is unless it's a big name like Spielberg - MAYBE) and will go because it's another X-Men movie and they enjoyed the other ones.

I don't agree. I think SR will be number one with POTC at two and X3 at three. The box office can be tricky, and truth be told SR is going to do well because it's Superman and not because Singer took over. While the Xfilms under Singer were good they weren't great. Singer just doesn't have the imagination for this material, and SR looks to be the same way judging from the newly released trailer. Now I'm confident that SR won't suck, but it isn't going to a great movie. I just can't get excitied for a rehash with today's fx.

Now i don't know how good X3 is going to be cause i'm not sold on the writers despite the trailers looking good. I think Posiden is not going to be this huge movie. it looks good and I'll be there, but something tells me this film open with 20-25 million on opeining weekend and top off between 80-110 million domestically. Cars will do well, and will easily make over 200 million. Da Vincci Code will do well. I'm not sure of the take. i'm thinking 175 million domestic take, but it could easily do 200-250 if it exceeds my expectations. We'll all have to wait and see when the summer is over to see who was right and wrong.

I'm wary of your alleged revelations. Quite apart from the name 'JokerNick' and a subtitle description of 'trolling around' your biggest claim to fame on here was a load of spoilers which turned out to be a 'joke' from an alleged 'friend' who apparently turned the joke on you, and forced some kind of grovelling apology. It doesn't say an awful lot for your reputation or your sincerity. To put it briefly - i don't trust you one bit.

Seriously, he was excited about Fantastic Four. Please! He's a pioneer, but people gotta learn to make their own opinions and stop believing critics and old infirmity creators...

There are only two to three films that have been receiving plenty of buzz. Most of which started last year. MI:3 of course, Davinci (I'm tired of hearing about it) and Pirates 2. X-men and Supes seem to be flying under the radar somewhat. I hope that's not a sign that Mr. and Mrs. John Q. are tiring of CB movies.

I barely see any real advertising for X3 quite frankly. There are more adds/commercials for Davinci than anything else. There's only spattering of X3 here and there--more like sitings of X3 commercials.
