^ It might be best to say that but he looks Italian. He doesn't look Latino. He very well could be another race. Actually I don't really give a crap. As long as it's faithful to the character as portrayed in the comics and it looks like Tony Stark...race doesn't matter if you can't tell. Obviously I don't want a Japanese Luke Cage, nor do I want a Caucasian Blade. They have to stick to the characters roots and make adjustments to today's times and to the fact this is the movies not a 2 dimensional comic strip.

It's pretty clear that Tony has never been written as latino.
Comic writers being the way they are, if he was Latino we would clearly know it.

Cruise will never play Iron Man because he always has a lot of control over his projects. He wouldn't just star in the movie, he's co-produce it, and against a relatively new director in Favreau, you can see which way that's going.
I'd love to see Cruise as Tony Stark, really would, but it seems unlikely.

Racially I'd guess Tony is a mixed bag. Stark is actually a Germanic name. Howard is English, Anthony could be from several areas but it's roots were Roman I think. And Maria could be Italian, Latina or surprisingly English.
If I had to guess I'd say Tony is of German, English and Italian heritage but it's possible that there's some latino influence in there somewhere. As for who should play him... I still like Dylan McDermott. As for Cruise, I might have supported him in the past but right now he's got to much negative publicity swirling around him and the movie doesn't need the bad press. For the same reasons it doesn't need an actor named Crud attached to it either. |

Everyone should check out imdb.com, under Iron Man, they have Odeb Fehr in talks with Marvel for the role of Tony Stark, they even have listed as Star, both on Iron Man page and his own page.

Favreau himself has said he's not thinking about casting right now and isn't talking with anyone.
It's just the horny housewives who get their rocks off from Oded Fehr. Who won't play Iron Man and can't carry a role like that.
