Author: Jett Friday, May 12, 2006 - 11:24 AM CENTRAL TIME: Got the following tidbit in today I thought may interest you all. A few tidbits from a friend of BOF that sort of comes straight from the horses mouth, so to speak (he explained how, I just can't tell you all the details). Anyhow, expect: - "They" pretty much have got the plot for the film outlined. - Nolan has been re-going over all of the various Batman comics even more to comb for fine details. - They (Nolan and co.) want it to be even darker than BEGINS. - The studio is supportive of creating something as accurate to the Batman comic books as possible and less about it being some kind of summer popcorn "mega-hit." Sounds good to me people. And to WB, don't worry, just let Nolan and crew roll with it! I know I trus 'em... Another plug for ON-FILM.NET. Got a new review of POSEIDON posted with more coming this weekend from other reviewers. That right there sealed the deal.

LMAO, come on, that's fanboy wish forfillment. Studio's don't give a s*** about anything except the bottom line. If comicbook movies are popular, they'll make comicbook movies. If faithful comicbook movies are popular, they'll make faithful comicbook movies. If they think they can make money with Catwoman or Batman & Robin, they'll do that.

man, let's just hope for an 'R' rated director's cut . . . this is not totally implausible, cause Bale himself was quoted as saying he would love it if this happened . . . and him and Chris Nolan have been real buddy-buddy as of late

Darker is good, unless it goes either "too far", because I like the vibe that Batman Begins set. It doesnt need to be more violent than it already is, therefore needing no R for a director's cut.
It also doesn't need to be Batman Returns dark. That movie was a little too much dark.

Yeah, the first thing that came to mind when I read this was Batman Returns. They went darker there and the end result wasn't what everyone had hoped for. But I'm sure Nolan and Co. have learnt from BR, and know that although they can go darker there is a limit.

This is great news! Studio supporting of being comic-faithful (they finally realized fans get pissed at change), Nolan is scouring comics for tiny details (we can almost definatley expect more comic scenes like the rooftop meeting of Batman, Gordon, and Dent), and it's going to be even darker! All great news.

Darker is good, but I find an "R" rated director's cut totally unwarranted and unnecessary.

They could always do the UNRATED DVD and PG-13 versions release.
And I dunno......Nolan wants it darker, and we know his term for darker is pretty much what we think, b/c he said Begins would be darker...and we got what we wanted there. |

it will be darker but it will have the same rating as the last one i'm sure of it.
they will just make the joker ultra creepy. also harvey's scarring will have to look real, so that might be a slight problem for a pg13 release. |

Dropping the F-Bomb once in a PG-13 is worse than that.

That movie was so dark that it took out some enjoyment that I had for it. I'd be my favorite Batman movie after Begins if it wasn't so dark.

I have a hunch that when they say darker they mean more serious, more intense. I hope somehow more dark = more Batman.

I just meant that saying it once is worse than making the Batman Begins sequel R because of Two-Face's scars.
