Here's mine, in case anyone cares at all. It's rather short and to the point.

I've started brainstorming ideas for my take on what I would've liked to have seen in 'X3'. I'm in the process of plotting and researching the story and characters as well. I'll probably have an idea for the basics and which characters I'd like to use by next weekend... if anyone is at all interested.

Thanks Matt. I like yours a lot if they couldn't use Mardsen more, but I figure they could if they could get McKellan in it and he was also filming The Da Vinci Code, which he is in A LOT MORE than what Mardsesn will be in SR I believe. I think the studio just wanted to say F U to Bryan Singer.
I also would have added more scenes with Logan and Rogue, had Jean acting like a little girl when they get to her house and we get into her psyche there and understand she is an undeveloped child (Pheonex) throwing a tantrem (more interesting than pure evil) at her father (Xavier) and taken out Angel and.... Let's just say I would have polished the diologue and this script for free. But oh well, we'll never know. Thanks though Matt and I think we agree it would've been better if she could just tear Logan apart (but he can't die) but when Scott comes she can't harm him. It would've driven the point home to the audience and then him killing her would have been more powerful. But that would also require them to have a scene or two more and that would mean "talking," just as Logan and Rogue and the love triangle (Rogue/Bobby/Kitty) and betrayal (Magneto/Xavier) needed. Yet I would have settled by just reintroducing Scott and having him bring Jean back a few times and kill her. It still wouldn't be a very good movie, but at least it would have captured the spirit of the story much better. |

Problem One: The movie was too short to be able to make full use of all of the characters, ideas, and set pieces that it introduced in the film. Everything felt barely touched upon. Not exactly the way to responsibly conclude a sucessful trilogy that has a horde of fans that are deeply invested in the material. Problem Two: For a movie that clocks in at 104 minutes (1 hour and 44 minutes) it feels longer than some of the Lord of the Rings movies. I mean, this thing seriously dragged most of the time. The film never really felt comfortable with itself until it reached the big battle at the climax of the film. Even then it was still an uneven and poorly paced film. The director, editor, and writers are deeply at fault for this one. The movie should've been at least two hours long and the filmmakers should've put more time into making sure that the film had a rhythm that would make sure the film never dragged.

I agree with everything you said, except #2. If you blame anyone, blame Fox, not Ratner. Nice opinion though.

Say, would anyone actually have prefered that Magneto recruits a new small group for the Brotherhood like in the first movie, instead of having 100 random Mutants that were basically cannonfodder?
You'd only need a handful of mutants to really wreck havoc. I'd have him recruit Juggernaut (as he already did), add Gambit, Avalanche, bring Sabretooth back and of course Pyro. And maybe even Quicksilver. |

I have a problem and is that Wolverine injected his claws on Jean like he did to Mystique and yet she lived but Jean died and she is much more powerful then Mystique.

I hate how a lot of the scenes were in one location and all of the right characters just show up (i.e an empty room - then Logan is coming from the hall and, how convenient, Storm is going down the stairs -and look here's Hank! Some one liners are thrown into the air -and cut! Next location, next characters.
Watching x-2 today made me aware of little things like how a scene can take place in two locations like Bobby and Rogue in the living room, door bell rings, the scene goes on by the front door.)
