Default Phoenix's Image

I have read through many reviews and opinions of the film, yet found that no one mentioned the look they gave to Jean. I was utterly disappointed when I saw how they made her look like some sort of demon with a disease. When she was kissing Scott in the beginning it seemed that she had the effect of what Rogue had on people: turning them all veiny and dark. I understand most people will say this is Dark Phoenix but this is not how I envisioned it at all. They could have still made her eyes fiery, just change the shade of her eyes to a dark red, and given her some sort of fiery aura about her which was what we were left with at the end of X-2. Also, they show her as a full phoenix bird under the water, so what happened to that? She all the sudden turns bad out of the water? Comments....

I think what they did was a very good translation to film. The whole firey eyeballs and aura thing would have made it too cartoony IMO.

i loved how dark phoenix was portrayed. if they had gone the 'fire bird/firey eyes' route, phoenix would have came across as cool-looking powerful character. with the route they took, phoenix came off as a dangerous, unstabile, scary, dark, cool-looking powerful character.

And if I was Phoenix I'd rip Wolverine's suit off, she missed a part there.

Eh, okay, anyway... I really liked how Phoenix looked in this movie. At first I expected something like X2, but I wasn't disappointed by X3's Dark Phoenix.

... JEAN!! I Know your still in there!!! AAAAH

i liked the phoenix effects. It was cool. but the only thing that was lacking in terms of Jean/Phoenix was the Fire stuff... I'd like to see fire surrounding her and then -insert flaming sound- then she rises... and all hell breaks loose. ...

note: when Logan gets closer and closer to her, she moves closer to him... almost looks like she's about to take a bite out of him or something... lol. Oi ... Logan could have head butt her and knock her out cold. LOL

I wasn't overly disappointed with Phoenix/Dark Phoenix's visual representation in X3 by any means. I don't think it should have been exactly as it was in X2. It should have been awesome and terrifying at the same time. That being said, I don't think an aura or fire eyes would come off cartoony at all either, and I think it should have been included in the movie (It's the Phoenix afterall--it's her trademark).

I did find it a bit odd that upon her reemergence, it is implied that she is surrounded by light and power all around her (stupid cut away), but then it's never seen from again . . .

I agree with you. If only there was x3 and x4 back to back... gah. damn it.

Maybe what we saw in X2 wasn't dark enough for Dark Phoenix, but I do agree they could still use some fire stuff surrounding her in X3.

I actually liked her looks. I had some concerns at first when I saw it in the TV spots and my God, she looked even better onscreen.

You obviously didn't read MY review. I went on and on about the Phoenix effects. Chilling is the word I use, and I loved it.

This was one of my favourite Dark Phoenix moments:

Who cares about the Phoenix flame? I'm happy with what we've got. Very creepy and eerie. What you saw at the end of X2 was Phoenix. This one ain't Phoenix. More like DARK Phoenix.

i louved it. except as i posted in one other thread, i wish that each time she killed someone, a piece of her clothing would be torn off or burnt off in little bits of shreds. and let the ashes dry off when they blow away. i'm not talking a sleeve but like threads from the hands- upwards. same for the legs, from ankles- upwards. and at least at some of the mirage (u know when its really f u c k in' hot) around her face and hands. i don't know, what do you think. i was hoping they'd given her the long boots w/ the costume but NOOOOOOO! oh well. i still luved it. i wish she killed off another x-men. i don't think she was evil enough. i mean, i know poor prof. x, but she should've killed at least, like colus. or beast. i don't know, what do you think?

Well, I'm sure that Wolvie, in deep, is a good guy, but he likes to be the bad guy, so...

my step dad worked on the phonix effects and it was suppoidly that there would be fire at the begining of the film when she comes out of the water but it cost far to much to make or something like that so they went with a bright light insted which i think works realy well also.
