How does a movie studio make money from attendance?? I mean, once the movie reel is sold to theatres, does a small percentage of ticket sales have to be sent back to WB/the studio?? I know this is more a general question but I only hang around on the SR boards and thought about this with SR in mind so...
Mods, please don't delete this thread, I'm sure it'll get buried in no time

when the audience pays for the ticket... and the stub is within their hupti hands, their money is collected in small troves. or chests... even if, it is all electronically processed and posited and sent to the studios immediately like an electronic vacum. What follows is a complex breakdown of utility and functionality in financing the necessary margins to institute a healthy way of forming a pashtu in progress... yaani a sethuing glance and striking descendance of CASH FLOW.. CAASSHH FLOOW.
As this is, the studios call each theater and negotiate a separate contract with them, which is EMBOSSED, laminated and SIGNED AND EVEN NOTARIZED by certain known filmic embassies to act as legal documentation upon the CONTRACT WHICH MUST BE FOLLOWED IN DUE FORCE. As Such since there are some 4000 theaters in the US, there are this many contracts to be settled and dealt with, to see how much money is made by the company and how much is made by the studio I hope you understand this as a lesson in due fate

Not to say I don't appreciate you guys reassuring me, but I'm pretty familiar with the the Hype and've been around since Spidey 1 (check my Join Date). Just a bit of sarcasm since I know questions like these don't go "unattended to" by some of the members....
That questions still bugging me

this was in no way flaming you at all... This is how the system is set up in South Asian territories for distribution so I'm assuming it is the same here.
Remember it is all in Sethu's name, nothing is done without proper mentioning or positing of certain factual remnants of that which is born from kaanji.

if you don't feel comfortable with the truths i'm mentioning then, then please go search for it, look up South Asian distribution terroritories and screening rights on google... you'll see many articles related to this field.
As to how it is genuinely done in the US of A, perhaps it is not as clarified like ghee but more to do with general dealings with large branchings or companies of or chains of theaters... like cinemark dealing with paramount or something as such.

However it actually has to do with the films longevity. The opening week of a film, the studio can take 70-80%. But the money the studio takes decreases as the weeks go by. There is a blurb in this article about what the studio makes: http://money.cnn.com/2002/03/08/smbusiness/q_movies/ |
