I've said it before and I'll say it again, Civil War has the worst cover design ever.

I have to disagree. It gives the books a more sophisticated, novel type of look and really stand out on the comic book stands. It makes the books seem respectable.

Hmmm, so Ben is definitely on the resistance part.
Punisher joins in because Marvel's "non-corrupt" government is giving badges to villains.COOL!
Here's hope against hope that Speedball will make a comeback from that prison thing and doesn't commit suicide.

Yeah, I'm not feeling it either. And that Ms. Marvel art is real real horrible.

Its David Mack, his style only really works in certain cases.

I've never cared for the Punisher.... but seeing him put the actual costume back on is.... wow. I like the Civil War design myself, althought I liked it better when it only took up a quarter of the cover. Now its like 40%.

The thing I like about CIVIL WAR at the very least is that its really involving almost all of the Marvel Universe; NOT just the X-Men or the Avengers or so on, but figures who haven't done much in years. I mean, Shroud, Prowler, Wonder Man on MS. MARVEL's CW tie-in? When was the last time THEY did anything major (especially the first two; last I heard of Prowler was during IDENTITY CRISIS in the Spider-titles during the 90's, maybe 7-8 years ago). And I must say Punisher has some justification, as I'd be pissed off at the government "handing villians badges" too. I've brought it up a few times; CW does everything to control and penalize superheroes, but does absolutely nothing towards super-VILLIANS, the reason why heroes need to exist. I mean, look at how tactical and efficient the SHIELD "anti-rogue hero" troopers were in taking down Patriot & the Young Avengers in CW #2; where is this sort of stuff when Rhino's rampaging through wall street? When Ultron invades a state? When Graviton plays "gravity blackmail" or so on? Good lord, if those agents hunted down supervillians half as efficiently as they are gunning for "vigilantes", most superheroes could probably retire.

Alas, this sort of spoiles the "shocking arrest" planned for CW, as it will probably be
Spoiler!!! Click to Read!:
Capt. America. To be fair, though, it seemed obvious beforehand, and Millar's written this before in ULTIMATES 2 #9. In CW, it may at least be handled better.

Funny how the NEW AVENGERS only needed 2 years to "disassemble", considering the "old" Avengers hung tough longer, and were fully assembled more than twice.

The F4 issues seem to add fuel to the theories that Reed & Sue are edging towards divorce in Joe Q's fanatical obsession with ridding all superheroes of marriage, except for the marriage of Black Panther & Storm, manufactured out of NOTHINGNESS to try to appeal to black audiences. I wonder if its working, because I'm white and even to ME it seems like pandering. Between Reed & Sue and the current editorial opinion believing it was marrying MJ, and not the Clone Saga or endless attempts to "change and revamp" Spider-Man that "ruined" him, I seriously wonder how happy the marriages of many comics writers are. Because they all HATE them, see them as being more rotten than being mutilated and killed by Black Mask (yes, a Spoiler reference, over in DC). I know marriage tends to go against the "Cambellian Hero" archetype, but for god's sakes, can't a hero's achetype EVOLVE since the damned Roman era!?

The CIVIL WAR covers depicted are misleading because when they actually print, the bars won't be black for most tie-ins, but other colors; baby blue for WOLVERINE and red for SPIDER-MAN and so on, which makes them look worse, actually.

Great post as usual. Though I disagree about the last part. I like the silver/grey for Frontline and the Green couldve been toned down for the She-Hulk issue but really it doesnt bother me. COnsidering, I dont buy comics for their covers in the first place.

Yeah, some of the covers look fine. Baby blue for a hard-edged character like WOLVERINE just makes it dopey. That and the art makes it almost like a super-Smurf out of control.

I agree. It looks very moody. Very pleased to see it on all the tie-in books.

And like Dread was saying; It's very cool seeing all the second and even third tier characters (Black Cat, Shang Chi, Prowler, Daughters of The Dragon, etc.,) being utilized to support the overall storyline.

Not sure how i'll feel when all is said and done, but right now, i give Marvel's efforts regarding this project an "A+"...

I see Marvel is still trying to get us to like their hot new character Arana.

I have something to say. I hate New Avengers, but the solicit for #24 is tempting me to buy that issue at least.
