Stark's Love Interest?

Tony Stark has had many girlfriends over the years (true to his "playboy" status)...

Some have lasted for a few years, others are gone within an issue or two...

Who would you like to see up on the big screen?

Man thats a tough one, but I went with Pepper Potts, since Jon said she would be in the movie, but I do like Bethany Cabe.

If Pepper's the only female lead, then it should be her, otherwise Bethany Cabe.

The only woman confirmed thus far is Pepper Potts, and Favreau mentioned there may be a slight possibility for a love interest in the film. I wouldn't mind if it ended up being actually her. With the direction Favreau is taking the film, I can see the who relationship building quite well between the two. Especially since she began being his secretary, and they both secretly fell in love. But Stark always remained distant and cold, and that's when the tables turned when she met his chauffeur, Happy Hogan.

Bethany Cabe is another I'd like to see. She was originally hired to be Stark's bodyguard. Even though she had her feelings for him, she always ran between both sides of him, meaning Iron Man. Soon after she realized that both Stark himself and Iron Man were never at the same place, when the other appeared. Then put two and two together and figured out that they were the same person. That fact that she helped him through his alcoholism, could make her a better candidate for a sequel. Considering it's been said that his alcohol problem would be dealt with then. Unless she's in the first, and then brought back.

I really like the idea of Whitney Frost/Madame Masque. The only difference between their relationship, was that Tony was the one in love with Frost. While a lot of people believed that Madame Masque was actually the longtime lover of Iron Man. Leaving a bit of an identity crisis, with neither knowing who he or she really was. However, the love between them ended when Iron Man caused the death of Frost's father.

I always thought that back when Tom Cruise was connected to the film, that he and now ex-wife Nicole Kidman would have made a great Tony and Bethany...

I guess that's out of the question now, however.

You know what's interesting though? You could conceivably have any Hollywood actress or super-model appear in the movie as herself, and have her be Stark's love interest....Tony does tend to travel in those social circles.

I'd go with Natasha Romanov but apparently she's already opted out for her own film so not likely.
I don't see Pepper Potts working out too well - it's too much a comedy kinda name.

Must he have a sole love interest? Stark's a player. The more women the merry for the first film, I say. Set the stage for him to end up with one girl at the franchise's conclusion, but don't have him in some serious relationship at the end of first film.

That's what I was thinking.

Not just for your reasons listed, but also cause it'd be sorta nice to have one superhero film that doesn't have your standard cookie-cutter love interest included in it. And with a character like Iron Man where a love interest has never had integral part in the comics...it'd be the best opprotunity.

Recent love interest storylines have been less than inspiring. You really have to go back to "Hulk" to see a love interest that even marginally works.

Like others have said, Iron Man doesn't need a love sub-plot but Stark should be shown as a bit of a womanizer.

I dunno....i thought Peter/Mary Jane worked pretty good in the last Spider-Man movie.

On further consideration, I think I'd rather see a string of real life hotties doing bit cameos to play up his studishness, with no serious love interest, similar to what they did in the Ultimates.

Yeah, I'd prefer for Tony not to have a real love interest, at least not in this movie.... it would set up the character in the wrong way I think. Show him always going around with a bunch of girls, have him flirt with Pepper Potts a bit, and maybe have him mention some love interests from the comics in passing conversation or so on.

When they get into the alcoholism in any sequels.... then they can bring in Bethany Cabe.
