Should a post-crisis themed Superman movie ever be made?

Answer it. Post-crisis freaks unite, fight, and stand up for what you believe in. Should a post crisis themed Superman movie ever be made, with Clark Kent being the real man, Lex being a corporate tycoon, Lois actually being a real character, the Kents living, focus on Superman/Clark's human upbringing leading to him being Superman, etc etc.

I for one say yes, seeing I have grown up in a post-crisis Superman world. At first, I was furious with Singer about back tracking with Superman, but it made sense to me after a long while of thinking. But still, should a post-crisis themed Superman movie be made?

No. Its pointless. The changes are minor at best.

It isnt worth restarting an entire film franchaise over, thatd be a major waste of money.

I'd love to see a Death of Superman movie or trilogy.

It was a great story, though changes would have to be made, like no Supergirl.

I'd rather the films cover new territory instead of trying to bring storylines already done in the comics onto the big screen.

If they have the do the Death/Return arc, it should be done at the end of the film franchaise....since it introduces Eradicator, Steel and Cyborg. Save the Superman clones till the end, its too soon for them now.

I agree with you. However, with Singer's fetish for the Donner film and Superman of that style, it seems unlikely.

I'm still doubting Singer's ability to really put good action on-screen, and I don't mean action ala dealing with natural causes. I want to see how he handles a Superman battle with a villain who can throw down with him, and I don't mean take the cheap way out and use Kryptonite or another Kryptonian.

While I am definitely NOT a fan of Singer's approach with regard to the way he's doing this film and the direction he seems to be taking the franchise, Singer is overall a good director with regard to characterization. That said, I wish he would have done more of his own thing versus have this film so connected to the Donner film and incorporated such useless characters such as Lex's goons and Parker Posey. Furthermore, I am not a fan of Jason being Superman's kid. I'm skeptical of Singer's ability to put Superman in a serious superbattle on-screen and make it believable. He normally does limited action in his films, and while he had more in X2 than the first film, it was still limited.

I'd love to see a Post-Crisis Superman ala STAS, but with Singer helming things, we're probably going to see a return to Pre-Crisis mode.

When this new Superman franchise is done they'll go back to Superman eventually, so yes, a post-crisis Superman should be made someday. Look at Batman. That franchise died out and now they're starting another one. The trick is is to do it differently than before.

I wouldn't mind seeing a stand alone Smallville film leading up to Clark being Superman then having a new Superman franchise. That way it would be drastically different than what has come before.

The movies don't follow Post- or Pre-crisis continuity. They are a different take on the Man of Steel and have little to no connection to the comic books.

I voted no. I don't think that Superman should be Limited to any one era of comics when it comes to Film adaptation. The Best thing to do is to appreciate both eras and mix both into one movie. To me post Crisis is the end all of Superman comics.

Having a Supes movie loosely based on a 'hit' comic book story at least gives some assurance that the movie and plot will be good. Proven material usually begets successful movies. Look at BB, the best parts of that movie is when they used proven elements from the books. That being the better frank Miller books, the similar comic book version of Bruce training in the east, proper characterizations, keeping true to the origin primarily, and keeping the dark tones. Where the movie went astray is when the writers overextended themselves with the gas plot and its subsequent plotholes. (In addition to adding Racheal dawes who was weak.)

I love a Clark/Supes who has strong ties to earth and doesn't feel like a depressed 'alien.' What a depressing storyline, especially when you consider he looks just like the humans and can blend in at will. He doesn't have some alien look to him. He CHOOSES to be Superman. He can stop feeling alienated at his own discretion if it bugs him so much. Plus he is beloved, unlike Spiderman who is villainized. How could he feel alienated?

I want to see the next Superman film go to modern terriority. Now the two things that most likely happen is a) Just like X2, the action will be increased. b) SR was like turning what the movies were into the modern version so the enxt film should finish it and give us modern Superman.

Death/Life CANNOT be made into a movie. That also has reasons of its own: a) WB was in a situation that last for years to get this story off the groudn and didn't, so they won't go abck there again, b) WB won't market a trilogy of the famous superhero dead and staying dead for a period of time between movies, & c) THE BIG ONE; Superman already died and came back in SR, they won't redo that again in future movies. So don't expect it.

Back on the Death/Life, Singer would know that since a couple elements from that story was in the film: Death for starters, the fact that before he went out he said goodbye to Lois, and when he leaves we are left with a feeling that his body was stolen/gone. And besides, SR was areintroduction, not a what this series will be ripping off of all the time series. So he would know it. Hey, X2 was based on the X-Men story "God Loves, Man Kills". Singer wouldn't know about that book unless he got invovled with the comics.

Superman Returns should have been a post crisis Superman, combined with many elements of the Fleischer cartoons. Given the relatively poor BO reception of Superman Returns (it'll be lucky to gross over 300 mil world wide), next time we see Superman it's probably going to be the post-crisis version.

Corporate Lex Luthor is the best thing about Post crisis Superman and lot of the other stuff sucked. Since we all never get corporate Luthor in the movies, there is no point. For example later Pre Crisis Brainiac was way better than Post Crisis Brainiac (a circus freak with menal powers, possesed by an evil alien spirit, God, how stupid.) If they used Post crisis Brainiac, I would tear my hair out. Plus I hate some of the post crisis villains, Doomsday is nothing more than a walking plot device in my opnion.

God, I wish I could at least depend on the comics for my monthly dose of the real Superman, but they're taking that away from us as well.
