Default Gotham by Gaslight

Found the TPB at my comic shop today, I was just wondering what you guys thought about it. I tend to be picky about my elseworlds tales, but this seemed....interesting to say the least.

Anyway, any of you guys give it a read? Is it worth the 5 bucks it's going for?

Gotham by Gaslight is special.

If I'm not mistaken, it was DC's first elseworlds tale, plus it has art by Mike Mignola. That alone makes it worth the five dollars.

Ha, "special" eh? I'll probably pick it up, just to add to my collection.

didnt like it. thought the story was lame and (being a jack the ripper fan) there were so many missed oppertunities, and so many things mis-handled. but at least you got mignola art...so thats pretty sweet.

I think its great, mostly for the Mignola art. It was Elseworlds before there was such a thing.

Reading it now, after something like From Hell, it seems rather juvenille, but damn, that Mignola art makes it all ok

Yes.
Only for the premise it is already worthwhile to take a look.
And I think it's a really classic stuff.

I tried to google Gotham by Gaslight and came up with another Superherohype thread from a few years back about the same story.

the premise is about as interesting as it gets. being a jack the ripper fan, i was totally let down. it had little to nothing to do with jack the ripper lore, other than the fact that there was a dude named jack the ripper in the story and he killed people.

I liked it. I wouldn't consider it a classic by any means, but it was an interesting tale.
