I love 'X-MEN' too much, that's why I'm... "venting"? (never heard the word before). |

Vent (verb): to let out steam.
...I think.

Yeah, 6 issue arcs are kinda ridiculous and too fast-paced. And their spin-offs are quite confusing too (House of M -- Son of M, Generation M, etc.).
This is what I'm saying on the other forums! There ARE JUST TOO MANY OMEGAS running around the Marvel Universe!!! It is too anticlimactic to see powerful mutants who can just stop their enemies in half a second. I miss the old X-Men who can kick their enemies because of teamwork and strategy. Today, you can just put Jean on your team, let her do all the work while you sit down and have some coffee. BOOOOORRRRIIIINNNNNGGG...god, I really miss the ol days. |

See, let's say Weapon X did give him claws, alright then, how can he use them? I mean, you could give anyone claws but that doesn't mean you can make them come out of my forearms. Did they give Wolverine an extra muscle that allows him to extend these things out of his arm? And if so, how did he know how to use this muscle. Did he grow an extra muscle to use the claws? And if he did, that's about as dumb as him healing back from a skeleton, because his healing ability doesn't allow him to grow compeletley knew muscles. How could he use these things? There was no explanation for it? Did they create a little switchblade like mechanisim to trigger the claws? And if they did, it would have to be pretty big, and it would take up a lot of space on his forearm, making it harder to move his arm. Even if they did manage to make a small mechanisim that operated the claws, how does Wolverine activate it? Is it somehow linked to his mind through a series of complex nerual implants? That would make Wolverine more cyborg like, and they never mentioned any instances of putting any type of machinery like that in his body EVER in the comics. So no, bone claws are definatley NOT the dumbest retcon ever. They're actually very logical, and I really don't see why so many people freak out about them. |

retcon
/ret'kon/ retroactive continuity. The common situation in fiction where a new story "reveals" things about events in previous stories, usually leaving the "facts" the same (thus preserving continuity) while completely changing their interpretation. For example, revealing that a whole season of "Dallas" was a dream was a retcon. Go by the actual definition here. Wolverine's bone claws were adding depth to Wolverines abilities, explaining how the claws work. That is not a ret-con. Having Spider-Man's clone say he is the original, then go back to being the clone...that's a ret-con.

INFINITY,
'WEAPON X' is part of the disaster, as I see it. Your reply is very good, and touched the very origin of the problem. ADAMANTIUM CLAWS just an 'ACCIDENT'? Give me a break! The 'Bad Retcon' effect did start in that specific mini-series... Logan was supposed to have been implanted fully-operative adamantium claws in order to make him a war machine. Period. That would have been the real "truth". WEAPON X started the mess, in my mind. |

Though, I don't really mind the bone claws, becase without the bone claws, stories like Origin may not be as good. And Origin is probably my favorite recent Wolverine story, simply because it doesn't depict him as a little physcho who kills people and doesn't give a damn. And really, I just like that story. |

As for the Omega mutants, there are not that many of them. They've barely even confirmed a handful of them. Uh, and Jean is dead so she hasn't been put on anyone's team in quite a while. I don't think any X-team is too over-powered right now. Again, take a look at Astonishing. How has that team fared so far against the new Hellfire club? Not so well I'd say. The kids in New Mutant Academy are losing team members right and left.

Of course, they are making the mutants, and even the X-Men themselves, more and more powerful... an interesting parallel to the DC comics PRE-CRISIS multi-universe where Superman moved the mountains away.

thay can do short stories (6 issue) but connecting one with the next story... like morrison's era...... better said, what brubaker is doing: a 12 part story.....now that's a good one..... but still.... tell me a good large plot for example, just to give a good idea.
