I've always tried reframe from creating threads. But I'm at wits' end.
I'll explain the problem. I'm using Windows Vista (TM) Beta 2 *all information was gathered at the bottom right hand corner* I've had it ever since the day after it was released to the public, over that time, I've encountered problems with IE explorer. IE on Vista is great, as good as Firefox or in some cases better. Now, occassionally IE will just STOP working. I'll activate it, but a blank window appears with no data what so ever, completely blank. I'll supply a screenshot if requested. After tickering around, I've found no solution, so I've had to reboot. I've rebooted a total of 4 or 5 times over the course of 3 weeks. It works my patience and nerves. Now, as stated above, IE works as well as Firefox, so I've had no desire to install it. So I put it off... reboot. and the cycle repeats. NOW, I'm using Firefox as my web browser right now, because IE is F'ed up again! Its not my internet connection or anything. That's all backstory. IE is f'ed up, I don't care. I'm not rebooting again. My problem is this - I'm using firefox, but my Windows Media Player isn't working. Its missing plugins. I access the tutorial to see if I can fix the problem, no luck. I'll supply a screenshot if you want. But I seriously need help. I'm nearly just going to grab my computer and throw it as far as possible!. Please, if you have any information on how to fix it. I'll gladly accept it.

Here is a pic of IE start up -
![]() As you can see, it displays no signs of even being activated or processing data.

Here is the site tutorial where I see if I could recognize the problem - http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewto...p?t=206213#wmp
But the first plugin.. Mozilla Default Plug-in (the very first one) isn't available, even tho it should be. But the site that I was looking at doesn't address the issue

Which version of IE 7 are you using? Because they released a new beta not long ago.
And are you using the latest beta of Vista? |

But I'm no longer worried about IE. I said **** it along time ago. Now all I want it get the plugins to function properly... on the Firefox browser.

So, your having problems getting the Firefox Media Player plugin to install? Thing is, website with file IE+Media Player ran with no problem, FF+Media Player don't always run. And it's not a problem with FF or MP specifically, it's more of a problem that the websites aren't compatible with Netscape/Mozilla browsers, which include FF. For example, Yahoo's Launchcast only works with IE, and YouTube is sometimes iffy with FF (most times not). So it could be the pages aren't accepting FireFox rather than the plugin not working properly. Which means it's the websites fault and there's not much you can do (except maybe try another browser). Of course, I'm probably completely misinterpreting the problem. A screenshot of the issue would help a lot. |

F***aroo. I've found the reason why I wasn't able to install a WMP plugin. Appearantly one doesn't exist for Vista (currently). So I'll reboot the computer. Thanks wiegeabo.

Well, you beat me to posting it. I figured Mozilla hadn't gotten around to supporting Media Player 10. It's still relatively new.

You want us to troubleshoot a beta version of an unreleased operating system? I don't think so.

Glad you got it fixed. As long as you're looking for advice, though, here's mine: Don't use beta operating systems as your mainstay, primary OS. You're just begging for issues.
