His memory was wiped and he was sent to another universe under a new name of Richard White.

I still don't believe they removed him from the movie, that's not what happened in the comics!

I don't think it's ever been established what happens to Scott when someone tries to hold back his beams by force by any other means than using his visor or glasses. Maybe that's her attempt ot stabilizing things or when she loses her focus, starts mentally gripping and squeezing his facial muscles instead of keeping her attention on his eyes and those beams?
Yeah, that would be the result of internalizing the energies from his eyes. What happens is she got so caught up in those great lookin blue eyes for the first time that she loses concentration and POW*

Well, the effect used on Scott was different to the effect used on everyone else.

She looked and acted (body language, speech, etc) like someone who's been staying up all night studying for final exams. Swollen features, bags under eyes, looks dazed and confused. Her movements are slow and her voice and speech are slow and subdued. If you've ever done that too, you know the feeling. Your mind feels as foggy as the weather at Alkali Lake. You can breeze through the exam but can't remember the name of your favorite song. Then when you drive home you remember the name of the song, and suddenly realize your car is about to run off the road.
I think the same could apply here. She gets caught up so much in Scott's eyes and on them kissing each other that her mind slips and she forgets what she was doing. Towards the end she opens her eyes with a look of alarm. "OMG! I forgot I about his optic beams!"

End result? Pretty much what you have in your comic illustration, Vilya

Well the storyline certainly sucked for him:

"OK, so we'll have you leaving the mansion and go to ALkali Lake. There you'll find Jean, you'll have a tearful reunion, and while kissing she's um, gonna kill you or something."

"And who's supposed to take my place? Wolverine?" :P

I definately don't believe Cyclops is dead; there are too many unsanswered questions and odd occurences, such as them never seeing Cyclops dead body, Phoenix laying unconcious when they found her at the lake, Jean not actually clearly remembering killing him, etc. It all seemed like a lot of assumption on the characters parts.

Plus, I think if the film-makers wanted the audience to think he was dead, they would surely have showed his death and not left everything so open ended and with a ton of questions and variables.

Funny thing is that it's just as vague in the book. His death is based on assumptions. Basically, since Logan didn't find him there they immadiately assumed that the most obvious answer was that Jean MUST HAVE vaporized him into thin air. Right... Then the book attempts to cover their tracks by claiming they did a "thorough" search, but since her was obviously vaporized, there was nothing to find. Again, right...

That too. The filmmakers had no hesitation to show a bunch of other deaths. There's no reason they would have to hold back here. They didn't hold back to keep us in suspense and shock us later. They held back on purpose to keep his fate vague. James Marsden said as much during one of his interviews when the topic came up.

Fox wanted Scott to die, but the film makers didnt. So they removed him from the film with a possibility of him returning. Everyone was happy except for the public

Since her powers are also reflected from her emotions, the sudden shock caused all those things to start hovering in the air including the water which turned into fog. And there you have it. There's about 20 different variations of this, either written up as script rewrites, discussions, fanfics, as well as a full-color comic page.

And of course Jean wouldn't remember what happened. Her brain was scrambled as it was from the shock of dying and resurrecting. what happened with scott would have been traumatic and confusing for her too.

It's also the simplest solution. No need to get Mr Sinister, Bishop, or anyone else involved. No need for time travel, magical dragons, or glowing crystals.
That is my thoughts and I think it is the most reasonable for a future movie with Cyclops included. A clone of Jean is dumb. But they didn't show his death for a reason...ambiguity is key.

thats actually a pretty good explanation. i mean lets face it guys, if they really wanted Scott dead for sure, then they would have shown him dissintegrate point blank whether it be when the scene actually happens or when Jean gets flashbacks in the medical bay. the fact is they didn't show it, leaving it open (whether it is logical or not) that Scott is indeed alive. its like soap operas. you are never dead unless they actually show you die.

because they didn't, i would never be shocked if he is alive. frankly, i wouldnt care if it was completely illogical as i like his character as well as jean (shes my fav. scott and logan switch back and forth for second depending on which movie)

It can't be any more illogical and out of character than it already is. At this point I personally don't care how shocking it would be to retcon things or contradict the events of X3 (as if it didn't already contradict enough things that were established in X1 and X2), I'd rather see a happier, more fulfilling ending, one worthy of the characters, their dedication to each other, and their heroism. I believe that would be referred to as character development, which this movie sorely lacked. And no, making Logan the team leader and Ro inherit the entire Xavier institute is not character development. Rogue giving up everything she worked for in order to have sex is not character development either. Angel's 2-scene story arc is not character development, more like a cameo. (Hell Peter Jackson's cameo's in the LOTR trilogy had more screentime than Angel!!!) And you can't have character development between two characters when one ends up "dead" and another is turned into some kind of freaky monster.
They jumped over Highlander 2, they jumped over Superman 3 and 4, and they jumped over Batman and Robin. I don't see why they can't hop a little over X3 too. After all, this is supposed to be just a popcorn action summer blockbuster flick, right? The average moviegoing audience won't notice it or mind too much if certain characters come back. What do they care? They're just casual fans.

BTW, Bad JeanGrey12!!! BAD!! It's not nice to try to kill your fiancee while you're in each other's arms! You'll hurt his feelings

Hey guys...

I think too that Scott is hurt in the woods... I'm writting a story about it... Jean is back too, but as Jean, not Phoenix...

Now, imagine the faces of Logan and Ororo when he appears on the mansion ???

It will be like: " Aren't you dead ? " or " Scott ??? "

If you wait long enough to bring him back, Imagine Scott's face when he sees his grave...

I could just imagine the Xmen in Tuxedos and Evening gowns on opening night for the film based on their "deeds". As soon as Cyclops sees where they're going with Wolverine in the Phoenix final sacrfice scene >ZARK!<. Red flash and Wolvie's head flies off in the theatre.

I already took care of it...

I see two possiblitities here... they remain dead to the world, but living their lives together or they can be returning to the mansion...

I will say no more of it... you'll have to read the story... I will try to be quickly in my translation, but I can't promise anything...
