If Scott comes back, then "death" is meaningless in the X-franchise and the movies becomes less real.
Killing Scott off left the series in a real hole. Marsden was someone who could have been resigned for several more movies for considerably less than Hugh Jackman or Halle Berry. However, Scott without Jean leaves the series also with serious problems. Scott became one of the most hated characters in all of comics for 1) abandoning his wife and son when Jean returned and 2) cheating on Jean with Emma and then starting a relationship with Emma days after his wife's death. So, if they introduce Madelyne Pryor or Emma in any sequels and hook them up with Scott, they either can't bring back Jean or they have to make them evil to make Scott not look like the cheating scum he is. So without Scott and Jean, it's a loose-loose situation and the X-franchise gets locked in a corner. |

regardless of whether it would be logical even in a comic book reality or regardless of if it would be meaningless to die in the x-world,
i just get the feeling that if they continue the series and make an X4, that scott and jean won't be dead. i mean literally, there is no reason as to why i think that, but i just have the feeling that they don't plan on keeping them dead...

The point I'm trying to make and one that I agree with you here is that what happens in the movie doesn't feel "right". It's a gut feeling you have inside and one that frankly alot of people also agree with you on this. You know things aren't supposed to turn out the way they did and the fact that they do makes it feel wrong and unnatural. So either that's not really what happened (ie those 2 chars are not "dead"), or the writers messed up badly.

Dead is dead, that that should apply to the movies as well as the comics.
The current editorial policy at Marvel comics is that no character comes back from the dead without an absolutely necessary reason. The reason for that is that Jean has died and been resurrected so many times in X-Men comics she might as well change her name to Kenny and join the cast of South Park. Characters dying and coming back lessens the impact of character deaths. Jean's already died once in the movies. Sure, they can do something like Phoenix wasn't really Jean, but that makes deaths in the movies even more pointless. Technically, based on what happened in X-Men comics, Jean shouldn't have even died... In Uncanny X-Men 208, Wolverine stabbed Rachel Summers (Phoenix II) in the lungs and heart, and she survived. (She used her TK to seel the wounds) So, what Wolvie did to Jean in Last Stand should not have killed her, if Rachel could have survived those injuries. But clearly none of the writers of the X3 read UXM 208 or especially 210 and Ororo's lecture to Logan about what he did to Rachel... |

Speaking of that, Xavier's being transferred to another body, now THAT was silly. Having Jean survive her ordeal would have been more credible than to find out that the man who did this to her got to cheat death and end up in another body. Talk about fate being cruel and unfair. Quote:

Bump, and he is dead...
Dun Battle me out... It's in the Junior Novel. Pg 64 "Jean... Do you know where Scott is?: Wolverine Question "What do you mean?"she replied. The questioned trobled he. She became confused. "Where am I?" " What Happened to Scott?" Wolverine Demanded Suddenly, horrifyingimages came crashing back to her. She started to tremble. "Oh, no!" She Shreiked " I couldn't have..." "Tell me" Wolverine said. "I killed him" she whispered. "I didn't mean to. But my power... was too much for him." |

Scott: "Nope. Don't give up until you find the body" [blasts him away] Quote:
And in the Grail novel (Chapter 10: Phoenix and Chapter 13: Homecoming), Jean came back because she missed Scott and made a promise to never leave him, they had an emotional reunion in Alaska, then they took her back to the Xavier mansion where she received a beautiful, heartfelt welcome by all the staff and students. It's my offshoot vs your offshoot. The director admitted it, the writers admitted it, and James Marsden admitted it. Cyclops' fate was purposely kept vague to make it possible to bring him back. Therefore, he's not dead. Case closed.

And no, not everyone can come back alive. Only Jean and those people who were NOT killed, like Scott and Psylocke. Quote:

4th of July is here and gone. How did that occur? We only have a little over a month until my female child begins back to preschool. But we’ve only been to the pool 4 times! My countdown ticker on my phone notified me there are only 46 days until we head to Minnesota on our end-of-summer vacation. That’s 6 1/2 weeks!
I gravely have no concept what has occurred to the first half of the summer. We’ve been having joy and doing allotments, but it seems to have passed us by in the blink of an eye. And the summer temps have been so warm, even on my day off each week we are inclined to do things to stay cool instead of heading to the reserve or other outdoor undertakings. We’ve been to our share of baseball sport so far, and despite the Rockies not precisely playing up to their potential, we’ve still relished us. There’s certain thing to be said for sitting outside on a beautiful summer’s evening enjoying America’s amusement. Violet still relishes it and still will sit still for the whole game, so we’re very fortuitous there. She loves the “Ashonal Manthem” and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”, and numerous sport I seem like she knows more about the group than many persons sitting around us. I’m still employed a lot. But I make certain that I have one week day off each week to spend time with her and do things that are joy for us. This year it’s been a couple of baseball sport, a couple of pool journeys, and a few midday meals out. It still not ever seems like quite sufficient. |

Umm....I think you posted in the wrong thread.
Returning to topic, I would be happy if Scott was brought back. Jean, on the other hand... I would prefer not. |
