Sarah Michelle Gellar!
Come to think of it, most of the Jossverse females would make excellent Lois Lane's. |

Gellar sucks. She looks like death recently. The only good choice I wouldnt mind is Morrison. If they cant get her, they should just leave Kate.

i found the Extra interview of Routh and Courtney at the Denial premiere: http://www.brandonrouth.us/video/other.html (its the second clip on the page) i think we missed the boat on Lois . i see that special quality in Courtney for Lois Lane the same way it was with Routh for Clark Kent.

All I want is more spunk and charisma in the next one. She got the intellectual and cunning side of Lois but was a rather boring screen presence however.

Actually, come to think of it, if she was 6 years younger and didn't have a gazillion white trash tattoo's, Charisma Carpenter would have made a good Lois Lane. The thing about casting Lois Lane is that there are so many better options out there than Kate Bosworth and even the biggest supporters of SR and Singer can't really argue that. Bosworth would actually be better suited to play Lana Lang, not Lois. Hell, she only got the part because Spacey suggested her and Kevin is good friends with Singer. Her Lois is more subdued, I agree.. but thats kinda what I prefer. I hated how loud and annoying Kidder was and I always wanted to see a more feminine, softer Lois to contrast the manliness of the MOS. To be honest, I really dont want this Lois to change into the way shes traditionally acted in live versions. I just realized I hated all those Lois performances. Its usually hard to love Lois, to care about her, to feel her emotions, because shes usually so hard-nosed and boyish.... a more feminine, softer Lois isnt bad within the context of this film. I actually would have got annoyed if she started doing Lana-fu and kicking butt... Well thats all I wanted from Lois, what Kate gave was fine. This film was about Superman for me and his casting was the most crucial ever. Brandon was great. |

Get rid of Kate, she was not good. Almost as bad as Katie Holmes was in BB (hope she does not return).
As a general rule women are portraied badly in comic book adaptions (with som exceptions, like MJ in Spider-Man). In SR they had the Lois always putting herself in danger, but this time she was even more stupid and taking her son into danger to. Not so good Bosworth, and bad writing of the character equals very bad result. Frankly, she was quite boring and irritating. |

Lana is easily the most hated character within the Smallville fanbase. All the SV messageboards tear her apart and the writers have made her one of the most unlikeable characters on television. I cant judge Gwen as I havent seen her yet, but I hope shes decent. Track record for women in these films aint so great. |

I say replace Bosworth. She was a cipher in the role. Jennifer Morrison looks similar enough to Bosworth where it wouldn't be too much of a disconnect. If Morrison can bring some life and sass to the role, I'm all for her.
I also like the idea of Rachel McAdams. Someone else has suggested Kate Beckinsale too. I don't quite see her in this role. More as Selina Kyle. However, another poster pointed out Beckinsale's B.O. track record as a reason not to replace Bosworth with her. At least Beckinsale has a track record. The Underworld movies have made pretty good B.O., and Beckinsale has pulled off carrying two action movies, something more famous actresses, Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie have failed to do. Lastly, I don't get the Margot Kidder hate. I think she was a thousand times better than Bosworth. Her Lois had edge, felt real. I like her being under the gun, trying to prove herself. She came across far more interesting. Kidder also was more attractive than Bosworth to me. |

![]() I think alot of the same crap that the fanboys throw at Bosworth would be thrown at McAdams in the role. It really wouldnt make a difference. Quote:

The Lois Bosworth is playing seems like a snobby priss that wouldnt knee a guy between the legs because she's too classy. Lois was the first kick ass broad in the comics. That is one aspect that Lois should never lose, I dont care how many kids she had. And they didnt write her as a priss in SRs' script. How could a snooty little miss priss (still) be so bad at spelling? Bosworth misread the character and has no clue what made us love Lois. Lois was a sassy, street smart, ball buster. Bosworth is only playing her like a ballbuster. She overlooked all the dimensions of Lois that made her a great character. But I disagree with your belief that the actress has to have that naturally built into their personality. They just have to be a good actress. I say make her do a little research, make her prepare the delivery of her lines in more than one dimension before the next one, and she will get it right. BTW I think the reason people think older when they think of Lois is because of her personality. Which obviously wasnt portrayed and thats why we think Bosworth is too young. |

And BTW that mysogenistic male in you is also why you dont like Lois Lane the way she is supposed to be in the first place, the way she is in the comics, loud, hard nosed and boyish. ![]() As for looks, I cant counter that. Though I think Kidder looked just fine, as does Bosworth, I know I would have been pretty upset had they cast a Superman that wasnt masculine and still beautiful and a Clark that couldnt pull off the sexy nerd that gave us older female fans our nerd fetish. From a female perspective, Routh was an excellent choice. I couldnt care less how he looks outside the movie. Last edited by 7Hells; 07-23-2006 at 12:12 AM. |
