Default The Meteor Man

Does anyone remember this movie from the early 90's? I watched it yesterday on the Sci-Fi Channel here in the UK. Bit cheesy at times but still a good movie.

Blankman wins as a spoof, no question. But Meteor Man was better in that it had a feasible story. This was a movie about a character that actually could have come from a comic book. In fact, I think Robert Townsend even endorsed a Meteor Man title under Marvel Comics.

I saw this in theaters and it's one of the best experiences at the movies i've ever had. Meteor Man is the best. he needs a mask though.

I liked the musical score. The movie itself couldn't decide if it wanted to be a played straight or be a comedy. Pick a tone and stick with it.

I thought the musical score was good as well. Especially the scene where Jeff goes to the community centre and hears the community talking about him leaving. Very touching music.

Meteor Man I saw once, and was disappointed that I never once saw him in costume. Though, I might have fell asleep.

Blankman, that was just fun. Great fun.

Blankman never understood what the hell it wanted to be. At one point he's dressing up like a five year old, the next he's making condom jokes. I mean, what the hell?

Wow... I think someone took these movies too seriously...

The main villain in Meteor Man was "Goldielocks." While there were some sincere dramatic moments, I think it's pretty clear that MM was played for laughs, I'm not sure how you could have missed that. And if anyone took Blankman seriously, then you are in desperate need of some Comedy Central.

Meteor Man, was, imho, a better movie becasue it did have a strong heart to it... Robert Townsend and his sincere struggle was pretty good, and the story was just plain fun. Then they threw in all this crazy stuff... Kris Kross... Goldie Locks and his mini-goldies... I think Bill Cosby was in it... (or was that Robert Guillome?) anyway, it was good times that didn't take itself too seriously, and I think any one-shot comics franchise should be played that way...

LOL I remember this flick.

I think what happened there was it was a brand new superhero nobodies ever heard of. If they were trying to make more African American heroes popular, the correct approach is to get existing ones from comics such as Blade and Spawn and base films off of them.

It was harmless campy fun imo.
