Damsel in distress...No More?

i was just thinking about about it. this whole "damsel in distress" thing has been played out in the last 2 films and i hope we don't get it with MJ in this one. and i think we might not have to worry about MJ being taken hostage in this one. and here's why:

...and i can't really see him pursuing spidey...i think spidey will just be stopping him from hurting people/stealing.

Harry would be the most likely candidate for going after MJ...but he seems too obsessed with Spider-Man's demise and he also cares very much for MJ...so i don't really see it happening.

and finally: VENOM, if all goes according to plan (a.k.a. the comics) he will stalk spidey, terrorising those close to him, but he has no reason to kidnap anyone because he can strike Spidey at any time! he just likes torturing his prey before he goes in for the kill.

i do see Gwen being the damsel to some extent one (i think she should bit the dust in SM3), which is ok to me as long as it's not MJ getting kidnapped.

this is all speculation...but it seems pretty solid to me.

What do you all think?

The problem is that it is a MOVIE and for some reason the big-wig suits of hollywood have decided you can't have an action movie without a Damsel in Distress.

The only thing we know for certain about Gwen is that she is in it and will at one point dance with Peter, and judging by Pete's appearance it is after / during the time he gets his black suit when he has gone Emo

My vote it's Eddie/Venom breaks Gwen's neck and lefts her fall into Spider-Man's arm in the final battle royale. MJ I don't think will be the damsel in distress this time, she'll mostly be acting or in her apartment with Peter having some touching romantic moments. I still think this is the one where her and Pete will get married besides all that's going on and Peter will eventually reveal to MJ what made him change into who he wasn't, but that's just MO.

I believe that they won't be a couple anymore by the end of sm3. Peter, who is influenced by the symbiote, will date Gwen (as we see in the trailer) and I think he'll beat MJ or something... and maybe that's irreparable...

I could see him pushing her down ala like the teaser trailer, but I don't think I could see him going the way of beating her up, or slapping her.

Here's what I do think he'll do in the symbiote suit:

1. Beats a thug almost to death and do like Daredevil where after beating the thug up suddenly realizes that "he's not the bad guy."

2. Starts to strangle J.J. when a headline is printed about him robbing a bank as we've seen in pictures.

3. Kills Sandman under the symbiote's control.

4. Flirts with Gwen under the symbiote's influence, MJ sees it and so does Eddie, and both become jealous.

5. I know this would never happened or anything because it'd be too violent and dark for the kiddies, but I've always wanted to see Spider-Man hang a villain. Like use his webbing as a rope and hang someone like if they were on the gallows, or see him wrap around some of his webbing around a guy's neck and start to choke him. If he could do this to a burgular then...damn...

The Symbiote is making Peter think that Sandman help the burgular kill Uncle Ben.

yes, and the plot summary.

listen, you can make fun of people who believe the Q&A/plot summary all you want, but we have every reason to believe that they are both true. it's all in facts we have already. nearly everything has been confirmed by filming locations, the cleveland/new york shoots, sets, photos, casting, and the teaser.

if you don't want to believe that gwen lives, then you're simply in denial, and you'll be the one who feels like an idiot when everything comes true on May 4th.

While part of me likes the idea of seeing Venom toss Gwen Stacy off the Empire State Building or something....

I'll have to agree, no damsel in distress this time around. They can get away with it two times in a row, but you know....a third time seeing the villain steal away the screaming girl would just be tiresome.

Besides, they can always snap Gwen's neck in the next movie.

so much for my theory...while this kind of irritates me that once again MJ is getting kidnapped or "captured", it makes sense for the suspense and flow of these movies as everything is personal to Peter in some way...it makes for more emotion.

That woukd rock!!!! More Venoms screentime, also a chance for the famous appearance of Venom when MJ thinks it's Spidey and OF COURSE... MORE VENOM SCREENTIME lol
