Yeah, it's true, Sandman was just a brute in the comics. But I like that he is going to have a human element in the movie, whereas Venom sounds like he will be pure evil!! Listen to those press audio interviews, Topher Grace talks about how evil Venom will be, and how he enjoys it.

I wouldn't call stealing for your family tragic. Sympathetic definitely, but not tragic. Unless his child is sick or dying, then yes it's tragic.

this sandman picture has me really hyped about Sandman, and completely ready to embrace another sympathetic villain! I bet you he will be semi like King Kong in the sense that the defeat of Sandman will be sad.

You say Sympathetic, I say cliche and contrived. Yawn. Seen far too many times. Besides, it's hardly been expounded upon - 9 out of 10 times he shows up in a comic and 12 pages later it's over.

Indeed, I realize he's a petty thug villain - and the fact that the writers had to yo-yo him from villain to hero over a dozen times is hardly inspiring. It just tells me that every week someone looked over the villain list and flipped a coin - "Hey, Sandy will be good this week. Next week, we'll have him evil again."

My point about the vacuum remark is...thats about as memorable as Sandman gets. He's never done ONE thing of note. Oh yeah..and being turned into glass by Octopus. I'm starting to see a pattern here...

Honestly in my opinion, Sandy has always fit in well with the Legion of Losers. They are about his speed.

What I find cliche and contrived is his apparent connection to Uncle Ben. Why must every villain have to have a personal connection to Peter??

Does every super villain he meets have to be affiliated with him in some way?? That's Hollywood contrived and completely unnecessary.

But having a family to support the only way he can, well it may be a tad cliche, but it works for Sandman I think. I look forward to seeing the scenes with his family and see how they play out.

Well I can't argue there. He hasn't exactly left any memorable stamp on the Spider-Man mythos. Though not every villain can have the greatness of Ock or GG. I always thought Sandman's most infamous moment was joining the Six.

Every Spidey fan knows the Sinister Six. And they are definitely in the hall of Spidey fame as they're the first super villain group he's ever faced.

Here's an odd question....

Since Sandman's costume isn't much of a costume, just a T-shirt and pants, do you think we will see him wearing anything else in the movie or will he only wear his signature get up?

I remeber seeing him in his orange jumpsuite in his origin scene and a coat in the uncle been scene.....not much but meh

i must say i like the sandman family man approach, it won't make him pointless and unnecessary. As for having him to do with uncle ben *gag*
