When does being cool become being a whore?

This movie "John Tucker must die" is about a guy who dates multiple girls at a time, but though they try to thwart him, he's so cool that he uses it as an advantage. It's a comedy and all light hearted or whatever...

But then you realize that the message is that "A guy can be with multiple girls, and be a huge jerk. But in the end, he's just a jerk." If this movie were called "Samantha Carrie must die", and was about a cheerleader who dates multiple guys, then she'd be considered a ****. No one would say "What a lovable ****/whore." The character would just be condemned.

So what makes the difference? The media makes fun of women who have dated different men. Paris Hilton constantly has sex jokes thrown at her, yet Ron Jeremy is celebrated.

So where's this double standard come from?

It's been around a long time, unfortunately, and I hear you.

'What Woman Want' sort of addresses that at the beginning.

It's inbred sociological and even biological makeup, and it seems people have a hard time altering that makeup.

I think it's either funny either way or gross either way. A guy who just has sex all day long is just as disgusting as a girl doing the same thing. And if a girl is a pervert, it's just as funny or annoying as a guy being the same way.

It's a silly comedy film aimed at the teen market and their high percentage of disposable income. How much actual "comedy" is in the final product is debatable. Try not to read too much into it.

i'm not advocating the double standard or anything, but...

the general consensous is that when a man has sex, it is only for pleasure, and, when a woman does it, it is supposed to have some kind of emotional attachment, so, when women sleep around, it makes it somehow worse then when men do it.

i personally think this all bull-crap... and it's some kind of 'domination/alpha male' thing that men do...

don't get me wrong, i've slept with alot of women, actually, i've slept with every reasonable looking women who's willing to sleep with me, but, i'm not condoning it by any means...
