Very shocking and sad news about Heath Ledger. He was so young. Only 28. Just a year older than myself. My best wishes to his friends and family.

R.I.P. Heath.

Can't believe the news about Heath. I was shocked when I read the thread title on SHH.

From what I've seen, he was THE Joker... The Dark Knight should be dedicated to him.

So sad...

Just thought I'd post this montage of pics of Heath as Joker in TDK in memory of him. This is my current desktop background:

I can't believe this happened. I wish this was all just some sick dream, this is so messed up. I never would have seen this coming. I'm very sorry for his friends and family, may God rest his soul. He had so much potential, and it's always a shame when someone dies so young.

We need to support the hell out of The Dark Knight when it's released. As far as I know, it's his final movie.

I'm going to go and see it as much as possible. As morbid as it sounds, his death is probably going to be a huge financial boost for TDK. Everyone will want to go and see his last and probably most famous role.

The movie will get more attention than it would have now, even taking into account that its a summer blockbuster featuring Batman. I've already seen media reports about 'how Ledger's role as the demonic Joker was causing him discomfort and trouble sleeping'. I'm hoping the sensationalist nature of the press doesn't become too distasteful.

I was planning to see it multiple times anyway, out of support for my favorite comic hero. Now, I'll be seeing it both out of support for him, and the talented actor that portrayed my favorite villain.

I'm so glad that Heath had enough time to finish the TDK. Now people can look at his performance and see what intensity he could bring to a character. As we all know, from the trailer and statements from Nolan & Co., Heath's performance looks like it will be out of this world.

I think the Joker was a perfect character for Heath to play...because you can be incredibly dark, sinister and intense...and then take it one more step. I think this was a character that would allow Heath to put forth his everything and give a heck of a performance.

I was watching TV Guide channel last night, and there was a critic there talking about Heath's performance in the footage that he's seen. He said, naturally, that Heath nailed it perfectly. He even went so far as to say that he wouldn't rule out the possibility of an Oscar nomination. A freakin' Oscar! From a superhero movie!

Rock on, Heath

It's a disturbing thought that this role might've been part of the reason he was losing sleep (supposedly) and may have caused him to OD (again, supposedly).

It is indeed sad. I could think this may be his finest performance, but i also thought it was some sick joke. No pun intended, but it's shocking. It's been on my mind since i first heard about it yesterday.

Same here. I caught myself thinking many times today: The Joker is dead.

He's already made quite an impression on pop culture. When I asked some people if they heard about the death of Heath Ledger, some of them couldn't put a face to the name. But then I'd tell them, "The guy who played the Joker in the new Batman movie. He's dead..." Then they get it.

This is gonna be a heck of a performance on Heath's part and, by the sounds of it, hugely influential.

Someone in the TDK forum made these. I think they're really nice:

I have to say it's really touching the way the Bat fans have rallied around and made stuff like this in memory of Heath.
I visited the IMDB forums yesterday to see what they were making of Heath's death. If there's ever a reason to hate that place, I have one. You should have seen some of the threads and comments made about it.

Sickening. That place is populated by scum.

The only Ledger movies I have seen was The Brothers Grimm. So I can't say I'm really familiar with him as an actor, or have seen many movies he starred in. Other than his casting as the Joker in TDK, a reason for which I was keeping my eye open more for his appearance in movies and upcoming projects. It was obvious that he was gonna become ''big leauge'', huge potential. And now it's gone. He really had a great future coming, with big projects such as TDK and another Gilliam film. A terrible shame. Worst of all is his young age and also the fact he had a two-year old daughter is a heartbreaker. I did a bit of reading on his IMDB profile, and the personal quotes really showed he had a so-called lust for life. Quite the tragedy this is.

For you, guys.
Melancholy after parting with the Joker. Two years later, maybe. I didn’t it more horribly. She is not crying yet. Only sad.

You must know it. I have finished drawing it in the afternoon before Heath’s death. Sorry.
I miss you, puddin’

Yeah, and any trouble makers youdo find here are swiftly dealt with. Over there, there doesn't seem to be any kind of moderation. The place is infested with trolls.

I can't stand the place!

I have to say, it's my fav poster in my room right now. So badass.

And, when I go to my comic book store tomorrow, I intend to buy this:

I saw it last week, and was going to get it then, but it's verrrrrrry expensive. 112 euro! So, I've hoarded some extra cash aside for this week to get it. Can't wait.

I'll take some pics of it when I get it.

Quality pickup.
I thought about picking that up when it came out a while back. I'm glad I waited, because it's much cheaper through some online outlets now. It'll go nicely with the matching Batman.

I'm gonna have to do something to get some more shelf space soon.

I'm going Forbidden Planet tomorrow. I'm going to get Dark Victory -- after reading TLH a few times over, I'm really looking forward to it.
