This is a follow-up to my "Penguin" thread. I think this is even more difficult to decide. Which Riddler did you like best? State a reason why.
I promise this will be the last 'choice' thread I'll do. Its only because their performances were very close. Again, I'll go with old school. Frank Gershwin made that role of the Riddler his own. From that maniacal high-pitched laugh, to his desire to outwit Batman. His motives made him the true Riddler. |

They both played the Riddler way too giddy, I think. But Gershwin was great. So I'd choose him.

I voted for Gershwin only because out of the two actors he did the role the most justice, he had an intellegence to him. Carrey just played the role like a fool, no offense to him.
But to be honest I can't see neither of them as the Riddler, the best performance had to be by John Glover's (the BTAS Riddler).

Frank Gershwin's Riddler is awesome, but I voted for Jim Carrey because he is the best thing in Batman Forever, IMO.
But I still want to see a live action version where The Riddler is depicted not so hysterical, more like the way he was in BTAS.

I can't decide this one. Gorshin was freeking great and Carrey was inbcredible. But clearly following the Gorshin Riddler. Of course Carrey was the best thing in Forever, but Gorshin was as good 30 years before Jim and coined in the pilot episode of the Tv series the cliché of the "bat-villiain."
So I should vote Gorshin but I cannot ignore what Jim Carrey did. He was really funny and energetic, even if he wasn't the serious Riddler that could have been more interesting. He was after the Gorshin version and gave it new vigour and spirit. So I should vote Carrey then. I really can't decide. |

Frank Gorshin easily.
Carey just acted like his usual self. Him and Jones constantly trying to out ham eachother thru the entire movie. It was irritating to watch.

It was amazing - in the wrong way - to see how Tommy Lee magically got muted everytime Carrey was on screen. When he and Jim were toghether, Carrey was doing all the talking and Jones was barely 'Grrr', 'urgh' or something else. That's why I'd rather to see a good Riddler and Two face more than another good Joker.

Frank Gershwin offcourse, Jim Carrey is one of the worst comedians alive. His more serious acting is much better.

Frank Gorshin of course.
Jim Carrey was alright, but a bit too influenced by Gorshin's Riddler to really stand out.

Of course I remember Gorshin's classic potrayl but Carrey's was pretty funny for the little things he did, it was just dumb stuff that made me laugh like going up to Two-Face and saying that's "never gonna heal if your gonna pick on it"

What is the point of a comedian? To make people laugh. Given his that his films make so much money, he obviously makes a lot of people laugh. Therefore he is a good comedian.
