I went to two other comic stores, and two bookstores over the weekend and I CANNOT find Pride of Baghdad ANYWHERE!!
Now if I didn't GIVE a crap about this I'd see it everywhere! This is pissing me off! And you know what else is pissing me off?! The fact that I had to resubscribe to this thread because the Hype obviously hates me. Bastards, all of them!

Well, no sense in that. My regular comic shop will be getting it this week. And if I can just get it this coming Wednesday instead of later, because shipping won't be overnight, and I'm not paying like 30 extra bucks for next day shipping.
Though if I could order Trish Stratus, the actual person, online I'd pay the overnight delivery fee.

I just read the 10-page preview that's on MySpace. Holy crap this looks good. That scene with the giraffe floored me. I'm definitely picking this up. Vaughan is a god.

I finally read it yesterday. I had it last week but I felt it was a title I had to be wide awake to read and haven't really had the chance due to working late.
But I read it, I was floored by it. Vaughan writing it, I knew I would enjoy it on some level, but I didn't realise how much I would enjoy it. When I finished it, I was just sitting there for a while going over everything that happened, even later on the story just stuck with me. Also the art was gorgeous. I have never been interested in any artform that depicts animals but I was blown away by what was on display in this story.

This book is stuck in my head and read it a week ago. I have to read it again. I don't if I should say it compares to the lion king or is even better than it due to my devotion to the movie.

BKV was in NY on Friday, so I bought Pryde of Bahgdad and got it signed. I just read it now, and I have to say it was really amazing. The artwork was phenominal, it really made me stop and stare at every page. The story was great too, I'm really glad I bought it. Anyone who hasn't read it should get it now.

Green Brain Comics and the Arab American National Museum proudly welcome the Eisner Award winning writer Brian K. Vaughan to the museum library on Saturday, November 18, 2006 for a very special appearance in honor of his new original graphic novel "PRIDE OF BAGHDAD."
This event will include a reading from the book and a signing with the author. "Brian K. Vaughan is one of the most in-demand writers in the comic business," says event organizer Dan Merritt, "but the chance to bring this book to the city that 30,000 Arab-Americans call home was just too unique to pass up." Shortly after the appearance at the museum Green Brain Comics will host a post-event reception with Mr. Vaughan to cap off the evening. The reading starts at 3pm on Saturday, November 18th at the Arab American National Museum's library with a book signing directly following until 5pm. There will be no charge for autographs, but we respectfully request a three item limit. The museum is located at 13624 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn, Michigan. Green Brain Comics will host the post event reception at 7pm. This is an opportunity to meet and greet the author in a casual, relaxed setting. The shop is located at 13210 Michigan Avenue (just four blocks east of the museum). About Pride of Baghdad: In the spring of 2003, a pride of lions escaped from the Baghdad Zoo during an American bombing raid. Lost and confused, hungry but finally free, the four lions roamed the decimated streets of Baghdad in a desperate struggle for their lives. In documenting the plight of the lions, PRIDE OF BAGHDAD raises questions about the true meaning of liberation — can it be given, or is it earned only through self-determination and sacrifice? And in the end, is it truly better to die free than to live life in captivity? In this provocative graphic novel, Vaughan examines life on the streets of war-torn Iraq. The experience is made all the more evocative by the lush, spectacular artwork of Niko Henrichon. About the author: Brian K. Vaughan has been writing comics since 1996. He has written most of the major DC and Marvel characters, including Batman and the X-Men. Vaughan won the Eisner Award for Best Writer for his work on Y: The Last Man, Runaways, Ex Machina and Marvel's Ultimate X-Men. He also won the 2005 Eisner for Best New Series (along with artists Tony Harris and Tom Feister) for Ex Machina. Vaughan was nominated for five additional Eisners in 2006 (Best Writer; Best Single Issue, Best Serialized Story and Best Continuing Series for Ex Machina; and Best Serialized Story for Y: The Last Man).
