I'M SURE THIS WON'T BE AN ISOLATED INSTANCE. 'SONY' COULD END UP LIKE 'NINTENDO', LAST GEN, IF THEY DON'T DO A BETTER JOB OF HELPING WITH THE ONLINE COMPONENT.

Rubbish. I'd hoped Sony would be fully functional online this time round, rather than the half-cocked PS2 online functionality.

"But Project 8 is not online for PlayStation 3. Only within the last three weeks has Neversoft received its PS3 beta kits, a black horizontal box about one foot wide by two feet long and two inches deep, with a slew of buttons and dials on its front deck. Neversoft is confident the PS3 version of the game will ship at launch in November, but it still hasn't received all of the software libraries and has no indication of how the online components will work on PS3, so it's not offering them." |

WHAT'S FUNNY/SAD IS, 'SONY' HAS BEEN SAYING FOR QUITE AWHILE NOW, THAT THE 'PS3' WOULD BE ONLINE-ENABLED, RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. OF COURSE, THEY PROMISED THAT WITH THE 'PS2', AND COULDN'T/DIDN'T DELIVER. THIS TIME...6 YEARS LATER...THEY HAVE ALL THE NECESSARY HARDWARE BUILT IN (EVEN WI-FI, WHICH ISN'T "NECESSARY")......BUT THEY DON'T PROVIDE DEVELOPERS WITH THE NECESSARY TOOLS TO MAKE USE OF IT. SO, THEY REALLY HAVEN'T IMPROVED ONE DAMN BIT OVER LAST GEN.......LIKE WE KNEW THEY WOULDN'T. |

If Sony is having a problem getting their beta kits and software out to the devs, that doesn't mean their online PNP will be half baked, drama queens.
Anyway, PNP will probably launch with the PS3, but it will take another year for all titles who would be using online on other platforms to use it. Sony was giving out dev kits an support relative to company importance (since supply is limited at this point apparently) so it's not like Ubisoft isn't going to have Splinter Cell online. You'll probably see the bigger devs supporting it on day 1 and Sony, of course. Still Sony needs to do a better job with getting their support out there. |

Wrong it's going to have the PS2 version, obviously. It's not like there's any real true difference between them aside from graphics (which already looks very good across every platform).
